My wife and some of our firends have just returned from a weekend in the K club, and it was simply wonderfull. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star resorts/hotels, and sometimes wonder what criteria should be met to meet that status. The K club easily meets (in our opininion) 5 star.

Set in acres of fabulous grounds with 2 championship class golf courses and a wonderful spa. there is plenty to see and do. We stayed in the hotel on the lower ground floor (room 4) the room was large with a luxury bathroom and shower, twin sinks, all the towels had the K club logo, infact everthing did, including the waste baskets!. We ate in the Thai restraunt on the 1st night, and in the 'legends' restraunt on the second. food and service was top notch. Breakfast in the morning again, top class, very laid back, great service, great food, and a nice big selection.

We used the spa, which I would certainly recommend, and also had a treatment which was wonderful. Service in the hotel was excellent, and the staff could not do enough for you, and always with a smile. Hotel is about 30 mins drive from Dublin and we took advantage of that. I dont golf, but our freinds do (quite seriously) and they raved about how good the courses and facilities were .

We were also blessed with some of the best weather we have seen in years which made wandering the grounds a lovely experiance.

Stayed in the K club for a wedding in April. The location and setting is wonderful but there are some flaws which really let the place down.
We stayed in one of the adjoining apartments which was dated and needed some modernising. Certainly did not feel like 5* surroundings.
There is a walk way from the apartments to the a main hotel, but some of the doorways and corridors you walk through make you feel like you are coming in the service entrance.
Also the service on the front desk was not friendly and when i asked for them to look for an item i left in the room i never got a return phonecall and had to to really chase them to find out if i had left it behind!
Pool and hot tub would be some of the positives along with the breakfast.
All in all i think the K club is surviving on past glories and have let their standards slip.

Visited 5 May 2012.

Attended a friends wedding at the K club and we were very impressed.

Location: Not too far from the city centre, set in beautiful grounds, with championship golf courses. The ground provided numerous options for that memorable photo of the bride and groom.

Food and drink: Superb food, we had the 5 course menu, with steak that just fell apart when you put your fork in it. Proseco was divine.

Service: Fantastic throughout the day and evening.

Rooms: The rooms that were used or the wedding reception were very grand. The evening party was held on one of the clubhouse rooms, which was large and easily dressed with drapes.

I didn't stay at the hotel, however everything else at this hotel was superb.

Beautiful Room, excellent staff in reception and the bar, gorgeous spacious grounds and award winning Ryder Cup golf course. All let down by a dreadful experience in the restaurant.

Can't fault anything about this hotel bar the restaurant. I had the most tasteless steak I have ever had in my life, we had to return sauteed mushrooms that bore more resemblance to rubber bullets than to fungi. 3 bottles of white wine that we ordered from their self proclaimed "world class" wine list were room temperature and had to have ice cubes put into the wine glass to make the wine drinkable. A trainee was used as our waitress, and although very chatty and certainly a chipper personality, the amount of time that it took for her to fillet a fish at the table meant that by the time the diner got the fish, it was stone cold.

Such a pity, The K Club is famous in Ireland for being the best of the best. Alas on this occasion, the restaurant alone left us with a bad taste that will probably mean we won't be returning.

We stayed for 3 nights as part of a wedding group. The rooms are beautiful, the food is great (pricey but worth it) the service is excellent. Breakfast is fantastic. The wedding was amazing, great service, beautiful tender steaks cooked to order for 200 guests, great wine too. Great hotel to come for at Christmas time or any time.

Room Tip: Negotiate for your room price.

My husband, 3 children (aged 1, 2 & 4) recently stayed in the Kclub using one of the deals. As the price was so good I didn't have the highest expectations but I wrong - we were treating to a total 5 star experience.

We arrived quite late and the reception staff were so helpful with getting us settled in our family room, ensuring we had everything we needed for the baby and young children. We peeped into the hotel bar on our way to bedroom and whilst it was small it was very atmospheric and cosy - very much a horsey bar, posh feelilng to it. What I loved most of all about the hotel is the beautiful furnishing and ornaments - particularly the amazing vases which are placed along the corridor.

We had the best breakfast I've probably ever had the following morning - they had 2 types of bacon, 3 types of sausages & everything you could wish for for cooked breakfast. They also had more breads, pastries, cereals, juices, fruit etc. etc. etc. than I've ever seen in a buffet breakfast. We then brought the children to the swimming pool and had a great time as we were the only ones there - we took it in turn to quickly use the gorgeous outdoor hottub - SO relaxing. Steamroom & sauna in the changing rooms. Spa looked very nice.

Then we had a nice lunch in the golf club restaurant, followed by a walk around the grounds with the baby while the children played in the lovely kids club.

The service throughout our stay was fantastic and eventhough i believe the KClub is in receivership it certainly didn't feel like this whatsoever - it felt luxurious and 5 star. And eventhough it totally felt like we were marooned away in the countryside it was only a 35 minute drive back to South Dublin.

We'll be back!
