“Fresh, homemade food and Best baked cheesecake!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Food is of great quality. Salads are quirky and use seasonal, tasty and fresh food.
Brunch is a nice treat and coffee is good (even better out of a china cup!)
Their 'stew of the day' and 'soup of the day' are great value. My latest liking is the chirizo and bean stew... Suppose the beauty is you never know what you will get.

The real show stopper is their cakes. There is something here for everyone. Their dairy free / gluten free choc cake is a massive treat for the dairy /gluten free friends (kids) as it is so special for them to go to a restaurant and not bed fobbed off with jelly or fruit only. For myself the treat is their baked cheesecake (raspberry and white choc!)

As mentioned before, it can be a cyclist magnet at the weekends, so it is busy busy busy. Families are welcome and accommodated but be warned at peak times it can be chaos and noisy.

Such a pity it isn't opened for evenings.

P.s. Take a wander around the cute and quirky shops that share the courtyard.

“A step back in time ... well worth the visit”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Popped into this beautiful little quirky tea rooms today for a coffee and cake and it was just delightful, The cake was to die for but coffee a little too strong for me and will definitely order tea the next time. The tea rooms are very quaint with mismatched crockery, lovely old tea pots and lovely quirky tables and chairs. I was pleased to see you can get breakfast and lunch here also which I will definitey be coming back to try out very soon. Service is very friendly and the place was very busy and could see this becoming a problem for the future as word gets around about how great this place is. Added bonus is the lovely old couryard which houses some lovely lile shops selling furniture and has a lovely selection of clothes for both men and women with a vintage twist and irish labels ... just a lovely place to visit.

“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

This cafe is well worth a visit. The food is excellent - you can choose from a large list of breakfasts, salads, sandwiches, breads and cakes. The atmosphere is great - the china is mismatched, the teapots are old-fashioned and none of the chairs are part of a set. The staff were very friendly, and the food was very quick to arrive. The portions are huge, and it is great value for money.

The only downside is that it can be very crowded. It is a small cafe, and very much in demand. When we arrived, there were no tables available. Staff were very apologetic, and when a table became available about five minutes later, they not only saved it for us, but actually came looking for us to tell us that it was ready!

I will definitely go again.

“Lovely concept, rather overcrowded”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

I think this lovely idea has rather been a victim of its own success because the last three times I visited it was full to overcrowding, and the last two times - by the time the waiter or waitress made it to our table, the cakes I had chosen from the glass display cabinet had been nabbed by people on other tables, which makes for a rather disappointing experience.

The waiter we had today was a lovely chap, but all the staff look a bit hot and overworked.

The food is generally of good quality and we love the mismatched china and old fashioned style.

Might be time to swap floor space with the antiques area next door to give your customers more space.

Thanks for a lovely cuppa all the same.

“Delightful tea, antiques - and pianos!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

The Victoria Tea Rooms are just one of several small businesses gathered around an old farm courtyard at the Straffan Antiques and Design Centre, in the beautiful Co. Kildaire.

The Tea Rooms cater for breakfasts, light lunches and teas - but also have a couple of specialist High-Tea's available (if you book ahead). Everything is freshly baked, and served in a lovely refurbished barn on wonderfully mismatched old crockery. We had a light lunch of their delicious soup and home-baked bread - then the proprietors kindly held our table whilst we had a stroll around the beautiful antiques and pianos in the Antique Centre next-door, before returning to the cafe for tea and cake.

Definitely somewhere to come back to, if only to see what new antiques have arrived!
