We dined here on a Sunday evening & availed of the Weekend set menu @ €24.95 per head for starter, main course & desert. The restaurant was quiet & the kitchen seemed to close around 9.00pm. The waitress who served us was a local lady & took the time to chat to us & seemed genuinely interested in what we were down to see & where we were staying etc. The food was fantastic & well surpassed any expectation that I had! We retired to the bar area to watch the sun set through the large picture windows that face out direct over the strand.

Dining can be very subjective for everyone because it is something we all do on a daily basis. Our time at the Strand Hotel and Restaurant was excellent, the food was plentiful, hearty and wholesome. Our service was a dedication to us by the warm and pleasant staff who catered to our every need.

We found that the menu offered a variety of dishes to suit any person's appetite, large or small and noted the specials of the day. The pricing was appropriate for dining room service as it wasn't fast food take-away by any means.

We left full and happy as the wine and dessert always have that effect. Good value, great food and great service. Sit by the window and enjoy!

Our family went there after an afternoon on the beach and found the food very good. However, my son's children's meal (which came alongside our starters) was very small, you could almost count the number of pasta pieces, and I ended up having to share half my main course with him. So I wasn't very full at the end of it.

The staff ignored us for 5 minutes when we went in and left us standing there until I managed to attract someone's attention and got a table. However, after that, they were fairly attentive.

But the location and the views are lovely, great for watching the sunset. The bill came to 80 euro for two standard 3-course meals, one child's meal, a cheap (not very good) bottle of white wine and a coffee.

Perfectly located looking onto the sea, friendly staff however only average on the food front. I had the chowder which arrived a little cold and a skin on the top. The portion size was small and they were not too generous with the bread either(one small thin slice of brown bread). My partner had a the club sandwich which was ok. Also the food was a little overpriced for what we got.

Dear Joynor thank you for your review of your visit here with us at The Strand . We are surprised by you comments about the portion size of the chowder as we serve our chowder in a standard size chowder bowl and actually holds 1/2 pint and for €4.95 it not bad value. Also with due respect we never only ever give 1 thin slice of brown bread with our soups or chowder the minimum is always 2 good size pieces! However we are glad that your partners club sandwich was "ok"
We in the customer service trade would much prefer if our customers have a problem that the make it known while they are here with us so as to give us a chance to rectify the problem there and then, so that they leave the premises satisfied.
