“"The almost Invisible LightHouse"!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

The weather was awful when we visited; grey and misty. We could barely see the lighthouse but it must be a spectacular place in good weather.

“Great Spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014 via mobile

I visited the lighthouse with my family. Being from the West Care area I felt I needed to go and see what it was like. I'm so glad I did, we had a great day out. our tour guide was wonderful also. the views from the top of the light house are amazing. we took a walk down to the cliff edge after and it has spectacular views. I definitely recommend a visit. Its very reasonably priced and you get fantastic information about the history of Loophead.

“Fantastic area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

We thought this would be just a lighthouse how wrong we were, not only did we find out the history of the lighthouse but found out about lots of wonderful places to go nearby. Outside the lighthouse compound is a spectacular walk around the Loophead headland where you can see the remains of the wartime lookout point and the EIRE sign as well as Diarmuid and Grainne’s Leap. There is a chance of seeing dolphins that inhabit the mouth of the River Shannon or even whales. This area is a Special Protection Area for the unique birdlife. The rocks in the area attract geologists from all over the world to study the unique formation.

“Strike a light, it's stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

Great views; well worth the cycle/ drive (not sure I'd walk it though); very reasonable admission price; lovely on a fine day, wild on a bad day - either way a memorable day. It's a MUST DO if you're visiting Loop Head.

“Better than the cliffs of Dover”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

Light house tour was great. The scenery in the drive to it was fantastic. Great little pub on the way, had some excellent salmon there. At the light house, standing on the cliffs overlooking the ocean was tremendous. Looking down you could see the dark green water boiling like it was angry as it hit against the cliffs. And up on top where we were at, off in the distance you could see cattle grazing peacefully on the hillside the gulls calling out as they flew past and there was a renewing gentle ocean breeze that gave you a sense of peace and safety as you starred out over the horizon of the ocean and tried to imagine what it must be like for people to set sail like our ancestors did a hundred years ago.
