“Very enjoyable visit”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Having moved to Cavan 3 years ago we finally got around to visiting the museum. The building is very impressive & we were made to feel very welcome. The 3 floors the exhibits are set over were well laid out. Everything was very well explained & the information provided was very interesting.
The WW1 trench has just opened on the 100 year anniversary of the start of the war.
The work involved to create this exhibit was amazing. What we walked through were clean well laid out trenches with wooden planks on the ground, the sided were built up & reinforced for safety reasons & topped with sandbags. Pure luxury compared to what those poor men suffered.
Unfortunately there are no staff at the exhibit as it is a short distance from the museum. There were lots of children running through the trenches unsupervised, playing with mementos that had been kindly loaned & climbing up on the sandbags which were above my head height.
I would hate to see some child getting injured & the parents putting in a claim against the museum & the trenches having to be closed.
The peace garden was well laid out & a very pleasant place for a picnic.
Well done to all involved with Cavan County Museum

“Always Enjoyable”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

I love going to this place every time I'm in Ireland.

They try to keep the local history similar but are always changing the main exhibition.

I was leaving the weekend before they changed their exhibition to World War 1 but would have loved to have seen it.
The building hasn't changed over the years and as a previous reviewer has said it's a fabulous Georgian building.

Staff are knowledgeable and always polite and they also have a small cafe and gift shop.
There is normally a fee to get in but this is small (8 euros for a family ticket)

Looking forward to my next visit.

“Wonderful museum”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Loved the building - fab Georgian building. Excellent exhibitions particularly liked the Clogh Ougther exhibition and the GAA exhibitions. There's a High Nelly exhibition on at the moment. The kids love the garden and play area and we enjoyed the coffee shop. Worth the visit.

“very interesting and diverse”

There is loads to see here and on different topics. I was particularly interested in the immigration areas, but there was also sport (football and camogie).
