Highly recommend this hotel. We regularly stay several times a year due to business and have yet to find another hotel, anywhere, to match it in any other European country. The spa facilities are particularly outstanding.

i stayed here for 2 nights and have to say it was very relaxing. we were greeted at the door by william and he took our bags while i went and parked the car. reception was great fast check in and to the point. we came down to the bar for food and the staff were great the girl who served us(didnt get her name) petite with dark hair was ever so friendly. great manner about her. the spa was very nice from the moment you walk in relaxation sets in fom starting in the steam rooms to the foot baths you walk out relaxed and not a care in the world.. so credit wher credit is due, william welcomes you into the hotel with a warm friendly feeling and bar staff continue that warm welcome.

My husband & I purchased a Groupon voucher for 2 nights B&B plus €10pp off the dinner menu. We booked for a Sun & Mon night. A few days before we arrived I received a voicemail from a member of the hotel staff, just confirming my booking, reminding me to bring the groupon voucher, and advising that I should pre-book any spa treatments or dinner in advance. Very thoughtful & efficient.

The receptionist who checked us in was very friendly and informative and he gave us all the information we needed. We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor of the 'modern' part of the hotel and it was very nice. The only negative I had with the room was that I think it must've been serviced in a hurry before we arrived and a few things were missed. A half drank bottle of lucozade in the fridge, a used teaspoon and piece of paper under the dresser and a couple of small cobwebs round the ceilings. Could've been a big issue for some but we're not complainers and the room was very clean otherwise! It was very warm during our stay but the window opened well and their was a fan provided in the room.

There is a hotel bar located on a mezzanine level near the reception but it wasn't very inviting. As another reviewer said it lacked atmosphere, almost like an airport. So we decided to have a drink out in the courtyard area behind the bar. Although it is an enclosed area with no views, it was very pleasant and it was nice to sit and eat/drink here in the nice weather. But we decided to eat in the Cellar bar downstairs. It was a more atmospheric little bar with a bit of character and we enjoyed some bar food there. My husband had the burger and I had fish & chips which was really lovely. We had the chocolate dome dessert which was also lovely.

The following night we decided to use our €10pp discount for dinner so we ate in the restaurant. The set menu was €45pp. I was glad we had the €10 discount as I didn't feel the food was worth the money. The starters were fine but nothing special. We had rib-eye steaks for our main and found them quite fatty & chewy. The chocolate pudding for dessert only was exactly the same as the chocolate dome from the bar menu, except almost twice the price! So of the two meals we had there we found the bar food more enjoyable and much better value-for-money!

The breakfast at the hotel is one of the best I've had. We found it to be well stocked with a great variety of choices. There really was something for everyone. The buffet food was replenished regularly and there was a good range of breads, ceral, fruit, yoghurt & juices. Very impressive.

We used the pools and the thermal suite at the spa and found them very enjoyable. I was looking forward to the Kneipp Walk but unfortunatley it was not working properly on either day we visited. However, everything else was great.

We hired bikes from the spa to cycle around the lovely estate. We were charge €15 per bike for a 2-3 hour period. I think the provision of bike hire was a great idea but perhaps a little over-priced. €5-10 would be plenty to pay and they could perhaps take a refundable deposit to ensure the bikes safe return. That said, we enjoyed looking around the estate and were able to cover a lot more of it on the bikes than we could on foot. There are some lovely picnic tables and swing seats by the lake where you could relax or bring a picnic in the good weather. Very nice.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Farnham Estate and found the staff very pleasant and helpful. If we were to return again, it would be nice to see what the rooms in the 'older' part of the hotel were like.

My wife and I spent three nights at the Farnham Estate hotel. Our room was in the original house and had a nice old-world charm. It was very comfortable and a good size. The setting is beautiful and was enhanced by fine sunny weather while we were there.

We had a swim in the spa pool which has an indoor and outdoor section. Given the fine weather it was very pleasant to swim outside and enjoy the fine view.

We found all the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed two meals in the restaurant and one in the bar; all of which were very good.

The breakfast buffet was excellent.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst touring the Cavan area. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful - the swimming pool was very nice. The reason I haven't given a 5* rating is because it's not perfect. We paid extra for a junior suite which is in the old part of the house - it's been so modernised that it's lost its character. The taps and toilet both wobble and are unsteady amongst other things, and the electronic light switches ensure that there are always blue lights glowing at night which I don't find helpful. Just little things. Also, although the food in the restaurant is very good, they gave me an incomplete dish (pistachio mousse stuffing which goes with the chicken was missing). Like I said little things that mean it's not perfect.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for a suite, a room in the new part of the hotel won't have the very noisy f...
