Myself and my girlfriend spent 2 nights at ahernes in youghal. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and together with the beautiful traditional decor created a lovely warm and homely atmosphere for the duration of our stay. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. We had dinner in the restaurant on our second night and I cannot compliment the food enough. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Aherne's to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Ireland.

We stayed for two nights on an anniversary trip.
The welcome, the friendliness, and the comfort, were only surpassed by the quality of the seafood, the best we can remember tasting anywhere. If it were in Dublin, I think it would have a Michelin star
Beautifully furnished with functional antiques, truly comfortable beds, comfortable residents lounge with a fire going all the time. Breakfast was also high quality, free-range scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, and their own beautiful home-made brown bread - yum!.
Well worth travelling from Dublin for - and the new motorway to Waterford shortens the trip. We'll be back

We have been going to Aherne's Restaurant on and off since we discovered it in 1978 and have never had a bad meal there. The sons of the founders have carried forward the torch of quality and graciousness lit by their parents. Always a delight to return. Consistently high quality is a more difficult badge to earn than all your Michelin stars, and they continuously work to earn it at Aherne's

Room Tip: Ignore ratings other than restaurant. We have not stayed there but cannot un tick the ratings above!

This is our 4th return trip to Aherns in 3 years and this time we brought 2 friends. We stayed in the "Townhouse" and had dinner in the restaurant. The whole experience was, as always, excellent. My wife - a real fish lover - said the fish she had for breakfast was the best (not one of the best - THE best!) she had had in years, and for my money the breakfast was excellent.
For dinner, there's a great, relaxed restaurant that serves good food, simply. There's no over fuss to the food so no suspicion of a chef's fingers fiddling around in your dinner for ages before you get it....
The rooms, which had just been opened again after the winter are clean and spacious and full of character with period furniture and an eclectic mix of art. The townhouse has a lovely lounge/reading room with an open fire roaring and comfortable seats and couches...
If you are looking for a sterile business hotel or a family hotel with a gym and a pool or a restaurant with fussy food with small portions, no personality and the need to stand on ceremony - you'll need to go somewhere else!! If you want somewhere relaxing, comfortable and atmospheric offering really good food go to Aherns......we couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Finally, Ahern's offered great value for money with Dinner B&B making for an affordable getaway.
In summary, great place, great value, we'll be back again.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but for extra luxury and a special treat, go for the Junior Suites

We visited Aherne's for one night in January. It has beautiful large bedrooms with all the extra touches of pure luxury. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, very relaxed and serves the best seafood I've ever tasted (my husband has fishing trawlers so I'm not a bad judge of seafood). Lovely open fire in the sitting room which was very relaxing after we went for a walk on cold night. Excellent choice of breakfast, no food request was too much trouble for the staff. We hope to return with our family again in the summer.

Room Tip: An amazing hotel for those who like the finer things in life.

My wife and I have stayed here in November for one night and we liked it so much we returned this weekend for another two night stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that appreciates the finest in fresh, locally produced seafood and wonderful hospitality. There is an old world charm about this hotel, it's just perfect for getting away from it all. Looking forward to our next visit already!
