5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2011

We stayed for two nights participating to some friends' wedding. Location is very nice for relaxing, spa, visiting around. Breakfast was very nice, food was also great. Bed was very comfortable.
Personnel was polite and friendly.
It was a very nice place to stay.

The hotel exceeded all of my expectations! I had been here 4 years ago for drinks in the bar and thought that I'd love to stay one night. Last March I got the opportunity to stay for 3 nights and it didn't disappoint.
We booked a standard double room and the room we were in looked like it was above standard with a massive bed and dual aspect views. We had dinner in the Italian restaurant on the first night. The food was absolutely fantastic and full of flavour despite the restaurant itself looking a little bit bland, the décor doesn't do justice to the food! Breakfast was small but lovely, provided all that we needed.

A lovely touch was leaving a laundry bag with clean towels and toiletries outside our door when he had left the DND sign on the door one of the days.

Both myself and my partner could not find fault with the hotel, we cannot wait for an excuse to come back and maybe have time to try out the spa and leisure facilities!

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night. This is a wonderful hotel in a great location in Bunratty -- just steps from Durty Nelly's, Bunratty Castle, and shopping including Blarney Woolen Mills. Hotel was clean, staff was pleasant. Had dinner in the Italian restaurant which was an excellent value. Would definitely stay here again.

Brief but lovely stay conveniently close to Shannon Internation Airport. Accommodation was very good, but difficulties with accessing correct information about petrol stations nearby (to refuel rental car prior to its return... were given two conflicting pieces of advice by different desk staff members, neither of which were correct, which resulted in late return of rental car and we almost missed our flight.

Thank you for your review, Im glad you enjoyed your stay in Bunratty & Bunratty Castle Hotel. I was sorry to hear about the conflicting advise you received from our reception staff. I have taken your comments on board an used them to ensure that this does not happen again. We have implemented new manuals at our reception desk that will give precise directions to all the local attractions and other places, ie..gas stations etc. I hope that if you come to Ireland again you will visit us in Bunratty Castle Hotel.

This is a nice hotel, but they put us in room 105 which is close to the main lobby. There are bus tours coming at all hours and people stomped on the wood floors and kept us up, then woke us at 6am stomping and chatting loudly in the hallway. The woman working the desk was all business and to the point-- almost rude, but just heavily overworked with all the busses coming in.
The free shuttle only runs two or three times a day now, or something like that according to the woman of few words at the desk, so we had to take a cab from airport which was a bit steep.
The best thing about the hotel is that they let us store a suitcase in their office while we went on to Paris for a week. Very cool service.
It is a nice place to walk around and we loved the location. Very scenic and non-city. The CREAMERY pub next door had the most awesome Irish Stew that we returned a week later for, just to hit the pub for the stew. It was a nice intro to Ireland on our first day in country. The castle is cool to see and walk around, so I recommend it for that. We stayed at the Oak Wood arms motel on the way out of town and it was much nicer rooms for a much better price, but not as scenic.

Room Tip: Away from the lobby

I've been to this hotel several times over the years, always drawn by its charm and laid back location. But this time i was struck by the dirty carpet, stained bathroom and an overall sense that the place is not being run as well as it used to. the breakfast is still nice as is the spa, but the rooms.... different story.

Thank you for your comments, Im sorry that Bunratty Castle Hotel fell short of your expectations during your last visit. We strive to ensure the highest quality of service to all our guests and we also have a very strict refurbishing agenda , due the the large amount of guests that stay with us it is impossible to get to every room on a yearly basis with painting etc… If you could let me know the room you stayed in I will put that room on a priority list as I’m not aware of such shabby carpets. Thank you for your comments and I hope your next stay in Bunratty will be as enjoyable as your visits here in the past.

This hotel is a very nice hotel in the old style, showing its age here and there, but still a very grand and welcoming place... you feel as if you are staying in an old estate rather than a hotel. I love the lobby and reception area.. very laid back and comfy. Breakfasts here are good, but I hate what they do to eggs... thankfully, the rest of the breakfast makes up for it. Staff here are EXCELLENT! Above and beyond the call of duty, these people are the best... accomodating to an exponential degree, all with a smile and a kind word. And they work very hard, too... but they never show it. This is a great place to stay for a first day getting off the plane coming from the U.S... it is close to the Bunratty Castle and other areas of interest, plus restaurants and shops... the grounds are beautiful as well. I would return here again, especially for its location and service.
