Owner description: Breathtaking views and natural design make this one of the few "timeless" courses found throughout the world.

The Old Course is Rare, historic, classic links, unusual, beautiful. Hard. Must not miss. The trailer park along the front 9 is the only thing preventing a 5-star rating for "views." My buddy accidentally shanked and hit a trailer and the inhabitant angrily threw the ball back. Hey, don't park near a golf course if you want to keep that vinyl siding scuff-free, Mac. We played a sunny, calm day, so we could actually hit the fairways (mostly) but on a windy day this course would be legendary. The rough ate my balls, mum. There's a statue of President Clinton in town - he must love this course as much as he loves cigars, which is to say, alot. When I return to Ireland, I'll definitely play here again. My only complaint (aside from the trailer park) is that you have to use tokens on the driving range. Lame. Fore!!

Plan to spend the whole day here just to soak it in. So much history and scenery. This was my first go at Ballybunion. It is hard to focus on the links with all the breathtaking views. Play with someone that has local knowledge. Bucket List....Check!

This was one of 7 golf courses we played while in Ireland! I can't say enough about what a fantastic experience it was!
The Caddys were awesome and the golf course amazing!
The only negative would be, that there were no toilets on the course!
All in all for a high handicapper as myself! I can assure you, a low handicap is not necessary to fully appreciate the experience of golf at its finest!

I'm reviewing this world renowned Golf Club, from a semi resident's point of view. Many will say: you cannot do that if you're not a golfer!! But spending 60-70% of our year in Ballybunion, having grown up here, from a Ballybunion perspective, the Golf Club is completely separate entity from the Ballybunion town., which is very selfish attitude by the golfing community, some of whom are locals, many just Kerry, and many many more who are not Irish.
The Golf Club make no facility or concession prices available to locals, so they can take up this great game off season..prices may be outside the realm of locals who only work in summer.
Also, I've heard, and this is Appaling!... None of the Golfers are encouraged to shop in the town, something which is vital in this economic climate!! This club was built by locals...for both tourists and the locals!! They should NOT bus their tourists out the side road.! This type of behaviour would not happen and Does Not happen in KIllarney.
Can BGC and Ballybunion town not look out for each other?? Why is this such a problem in Ballybunion??? Soon, there will not be any shops left!! Jewellers closed. Restaurants considering closure..euro shop and one gift shop, not a lot of gifts for Golfers, when I enquirer why, they said the Golfers are rarely up town and leave via the back road...
