I don't know if there has been big changes recently, but I cannot understand the negative reviews.

For the €45 I paid, I cannot fault the place. Room was spacious & spotless. Staff were charming, polite & helpful. Jacuzzi bath was amazing!!

If I had cause to come back to Bandon, this would be where I would certainly stay.

They told me this hotel had been renovated after the floods. What a wasted opportunity!

The breakfast room is windowless and grim, the bar dark and cheerless and the reception area uninviting.

The staff seem to be overworked with one person doing reception, chef, waitress and tidying at breakfast time. We stayed from Thursday to Monday. The person on Friday and Monday was lovely; the person at the weekend was surly. Breakfast varied accordingly; the weekday person produced a fine breakfast; the weekend person could not cook.

Sinister stains on the bedroom carpet, mould on the bathroom window and a lack of dusting added to the air of neglect. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the bedrooms though.

Cheap but not worth it.

Room Tip: Don't stay there

Stopped in the bar for food one August Sunday evening this year. Once the order for the main course had been taken, there was no service after that. In the middle of eating out meal the bar man came over and turned the main lights off and pulled down the blind so it was very dark. When we tried to order more drinks we were ignored by the waiting staff and then had to go to the bar ourselves (no great hardship I know). Then when the table was eventually cleared we asked for a sweet menu and none was forthcoming. We kept trying to get the attention of the waiting staff once again but were totally ignored. We then asked at the bar and were then given a couple of tatty unreadable sweet menus. We promptly got up, paid and left. We have visited here in previous years and had great service. It felt like they were trying to drive us out. The bar man was busy swearing at the top of his voice (we had our young daughter with us). I would not recommend this now to anyone, unless you like really bad service.

Stayed here two nights last week and its a decent no frills place!! Staff were extremely friendly & helpful, rooms clean (and massive with jacuzzi!) and quiet. Think some people on here are really fussy but shud judge it on €80 hotel incl breakfast (which btw was one of the best i've had in a long time! Asked at reception for an hour extra before checkout in morning, no problem, no extra charge!!! U GET WHAT U PAY FOR PEOPLE!!!

Its not even worth 1 star!!!! I am shocked how bad it was! Firsty there is no parkin which we were not informed about! You have to find your own space on the main road and pay. There is a free car park down the road but its a bit of a walk with luggage and a buggie if you had kids. When we walked in the smell was rotten of stale and musk, not nice at all. There was no one at reception to ask about parking so we had to double park! We had to wait ages to check in. We had already booked but it wasnt even wrote down in the book! (They have no compter!!!) You have to press a bell on the desk and wait! It was 80 euro which is WAY over price!!! Not even worth 20 euro!!! There is no lift which is bad if you have loads of bags and buggies. We couldnt even open our door the door handle was hanging off!!! Its the smallest room i have ever stayed in, It was so cramped i really felt uncomfortable. The bathroom is a joke i couldnt even close the door. The towels were stained and the sink is very small so my boyfriend found it hard to shave. The only mirror is the small one in the bahroom which is dirty. The shower pisses out water all over the bathroom so i got soaked and i wasnt even in the shower!!! The bed was horrible it didnt even have a duvey a dirty old itchy yucky blanket! The tv is small with 1 channel. In the morning we had to wait AGES for the breakfast and beg for a cup od coffee and dont even ask for ketchup of orange juice because you will be waiting a year!!! There was no one at reception to check out so we left our keys at the bar. There is a young girl who seems to be running the place, but I would be very embarassed to be even working there. I would never recommend going there. The room has only single glasing windows and is on the main street so it is very loud so not a good nights sleep. The hotel has 2 dogs tied up at the side which are never walked so they keep barking (I love animals!:-) )There is a night club at the other side of the hotel.

Room Tip: It should be knocked down!!!!!
