Stayed here as a member of a large group of cyclists on a charity run down from Northern Ireland. Having arrived earlier than expected the very pleasant receptionist informed us that the rooms were not yet ready but invited us to avail of the hotel facilities while we waited. Having secured our bikes in a room kindly supplied, some of our number went to the very well appointed pool/spa whilst others headed for the bar. Being a Sunday afternoon the bar area was quite busy with local diners but the staff were still able to cope with varied orders of lunch and bar snacks. All of our party commented on the quality and price of the food. (positively)
The rooms were all spotless and well appointed. After a night out in the town of Birr, a short taxi journey away, quite a few of us returned to the residents bar where we were very well looked after by Fran the barman. Snack food was supplied compliments of the hotel which was very welcome!
On a very small negative, Breakfast whilst served as opposed to buffet, was a bit meagre, with just one small slice of bacon and one sausage.
Overall, a very pleasant experience and recommended for either groups like ourselves or family break.More
