Had to travel on business with a work colleague at the end of November.
When we arrived at the hotel we were given our rooms.
Headed up stairs and flicked the light switch only to have the lights in both rooms blowing something electrical meaning no lights.
Unfortunately no repairman was available until the next day so had to get new rooms
Got the keys to the new rooms, and once again headed off to find the heating in both rooms barely working.
My work colleague decided he would stay in the room he was given as he was tired and didn't want to move again.
I didn't fancy a barely warm room and colder bathroom so asked if the heating could be fixed.
To his credit the staff member did all he could bleeding the radiators, but couldn't get them working again.
Turned out the whole top floor had the same issue.
Again, I had to be moved to my third room.
This time everything worked to satisfaction.
Unfortunately this had taken well over an hour after arrival.
Having been traveling for over 13 hours before arriving, the issues were the last thing needed.
The saving grace for this hotel was its staff.
I cannot praise every member of staff we dealt with enough.
Everyone had a smile and time to chat.
Top praise to the barman on the night, sorry, I can't remember his name, but he's Canadian....Had to travel on business with a work colleague at the end of November.

He was top class in every way.
The hotel should be very proud of its staff, less so of its rooms in their current form.
I always ask myself on leaving would I stay again?
Sadly, this time I would have to say no.
I will most definitely visit the bar again so I can meet the staff, but I will be staying elsewhere in Birr.
That is such a shame as the hotel has so much potential.
To be fair the management gave us a couple of drinks by way of apology and I would like to thank them for the gesture.
I know the hotel is very old, but it wouldn't take much TLC to fix the current issues
I hope the owners do upgrades, I would like to see the business prosper for the sake of the staff. More
