Excellent B&B in own grounds. Beautifully decorated throughout with excellent colour-schemes in the parts of the house we viewed. Bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Definitely a great place to stay in Birr.

Myself and my wife "escaped" for a night, and happily had come across Walcot B&B on Tripadvisor. It is a beautiful town-house, tastefully decorated by Ailish (hope the spelling is correct) who owns the house with her husband James. The room was lovely and comfortable decorated very much in keeping with the house. James had organised a room with a large bed - I'm pretty tall - only small thing was the en-suite was a bit small for someone my size - but nothing you can do in a period house like this. The grounds were private with good secure off street parking and the rooms very quiet - we live in the country and even still found it nice and quiet. Location is great for the Castle or just getting into town. Breakfast was lovely and came with good strong coffee. The owners very helpful and welcoming. At €89 for 2 it was the upper end of B&B rates, but really it was as good as a boutique hotel. We'll be back.

Room Tip: If you have any special requirements such as a larger bed, just tell James or Ailish.

I had the pleasure of staying in Walcott B&B whilst visiting friends last month. From the warm welcome to the beautiful rooms Walcott has to offer my stay was perfect. The breakfast and selection provided was mouth watering and delicious. The grounds Walcott are situated on provide a relaxing and peaceful environment for anyone to stay in. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back again.

Just back from a really lovely stay at Walcott B&B, this place is something very special, certainly not your average B&B! We received such a warm welcome as we were shown to our beautiful room, it felt like we were in a boutique hotel! Just fab!
Centrally located in Birr with plenty of parking, we'll certainly be booking in again!,

We stayed for 5 nights as my husbands family quite nearby. We had the family room which consists of 2 bedrooms and a bathroom which was tastefully decorated and had one tv in the adult part as the other room a twin had just the beds. The bathroom just had a shower and really could do with adequate ventilation as after a couple of showers the room was quite damp and we couldn't seem to open the window. Our stay was lovely great breakfasts and fresh fruits daily and coffee and tea in your room if you asked :-) We visited Birr Castle one day really worth it lovely walks and children's play area.

We really enjoyed our stay in the lovely Walcot B&B in Birr. It's in a old house in a quiet location just off the historic Mall in the town and just across the road from Birr Castle. Our bedroom was very big with lovely decor. The breakfast room was also very bright and spacious. There was a good choice for breakfast and the food was lovely. The owners were very welcoming when we arrived, slightly later than expected.

I'd highly recommend Walcot B&B if you are visiting the Midlands.

We stayed two nights at Walcot Bed & Breakfast. First of all, James and Eilish were extremely helpful, picking us up and driving us where we needed to go, as we were travelling by public transport. It was so much appreciated. Nothing seemed too much to ask. Their B&B is elegant, tastefully decorated to reflect the beauty of a grand Georgian home. Our room was spacious, beautiful in coordinating soothing tones. The view from the window to their lovely gardens added to the tranquility experienced. There was so much choice for breakfast, from fresh fruit salad, cold cereals, yogurt, to full cooked Irish breakfast. All this served was in the elegant dining room. The location of Walcot Bed & Breakfast is perfect, next to Birr Castle Desmene, and only a brief walk to downtown. This adds to the privacy and peacefulness of this wonderful accommodation. When in Birr, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Any room would be simply perfect.
