After enjoying the Harbour Master's so much last year, my Husband and I have just returned there for our 2nd wedding anniversary and what another fantastic stay. Grainne and Jim are such friendly hosts and go above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one. We enjoyed plenty of fishing on the River Shannon which is on your doorstep and plenty of local beer & laughs at McIntyres which is also a stones throw away. We have certainly fell in love with the Harbour Master's and Shannon Harbour and will definitely be returning. I would recommend any type of traveller to give it a try.

We stayed here on a cycling tour in Ireland, having spent two days cycling from Dublin along the towpath of the Grand Canal (which is itself a highly recommended activity!). It's a very interesting place to say, and the owner is the daughter of the last harbour master. The room was well furnished and comfortable, breakfast was great, and Grainne was a very friendly and helpful host.

I could easily have stayed a week in this peaceful quite place. There are about 30 people who live in this town, and all are wonderfully friendly. Breakfast was made to order and plentiful. Our room was immaculate, bathroom was in great shape and we had a view of the harbour and the ships docked there. The house has been in the family for quite awhile and the innkeeper was very kind, knowledgeable and welcoming.

The hubby and I have just got back from a 5 night stay at the Harbour Masters B&B for our 1st anniversary. The owners Grainne & Jim made it really special, even down to a candle in each of our tomatoes for brekkie on the day of our anniversary!! The house and garden is beautifully kept and our room was really comfortable with lovely views of the Grand Canal and surrounding fields. The breakfast's were delicious and big! I would highly recommend Grainne's home made soda bread which was in abundance every morning.

There is a great pub in the village just a few strides away called McIntyres which is really friendly and had great music on at the weekend, we were made very, very welcome. A five minute drive takes you into the town of Banagher where there are a few more pubs and shops etc., but would say Flynn's bar is a must, for the welcome and some seriously nice food.

Overall i would highly recommend the Harbour Master's for a very laid back, relaxing (& romantic) holiday in a brilliant location with some seriously friendly people. We will definitely be going back next year.......can't wait!

The setting is gorgeous and out-of-the-way, but near enough to some wonderful sights to be convenient. Grainne was a great hostess and it was the best breakfast we had in all of Ireland! Shannon Harbour is a beautiful village and this B&B was excellent.
