“Good food but expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014

I had afternoon tea at Grangecon Cafe on 22nd March. The cappuccino was great as usual. The smaller than average piece of almond and date cake with cream was very good. My shock was obvious when I went to pay the bill and discovered the cost of the cake was 5.95 euro and the coffee was extra.

I was invited to speak to the Manager which I did. I was glad I did so as he was most interested to hear my positiion. He told me he uses organic products in the making of this cake, hence the high price. He was open to my suggestions about perhaps using free range eggs instead and non-organic almonds in order to bring down the price. But then others may wish to pay a high price for a good and very tasty product. This is a wholesome place to eat with good fare so you choose.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

I regularly collect a salad, sandwich and/or soup from the cafe for lunch when I'm too busy to prepare a lunch and they are always really excellent. Everything is fresh, well-prepared and made on the premises, and the service is friendly, quick and efficient. I also purchase frozen dishes from them such as fish pie and lasagne and again - no complaints. I've never eaten in the cafe but it is always buzzing and seems a great place to chat.

Stopped here during a cycle. Delicious coffee, tasty soup, and the staff kindly refilled my bidon for me. Would come here again.
