“Wonderful stay, wish we booked more nights”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

My husband and I stayed here on our last night on a 12 day trip to Ireland and Scotland. What an absolutely beautiful property and welcoming family! We wish we knew how truly great it was ahead of time because we would have planned to stay here longer, and we can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone traveling in County Clare or near the Shannon Airport.

Evelyn, the young woman who works there, greeted us with tea and warm scones and showed us to our room and around the house. The whole house smelled of fresh flowers and fresh baked goods and there was a beautiful arrangement of huge lily's in the foyer. Our room was very nice with a large comfortable bed and clean bedding and fresh water on the dresser. The bathroom was the cleanest we had during our entire trip to Europe. There were multiple indoor and outdoor sitting areas and everything was lovingly cared for, clean and fresh with lots of space. There is a cute outdoor gazebo with little lights and it looks back on the great vegetable garden.

Even though the house was so nice and clean and fresh-smelling, the best part of the stay was the gorgeous farm complete with the greenest pastures and lots of livestock - cows, sheep, horses, dog! It was so relaxing and serene on the farm. Michael and his son took us on a horseback tour of the farm the morning after we arrived, and told us all about the property and the livestock. Noreen had a delicious Irish breakfast with more tea and scones and brown bread waiting for us when we returned. Noreen and Michael were really delightful hosts, so friendly and welcoming. There was another family there at the same time with two small children who obviously loved Evelyn - their little girl ran up and gave Evelyn a huge hug as soon as she walked in the door! Their family had been there for 2 or 3 days and were also very sad to leave the property, and remarked on how much their children liked Noreen's tasty pancakes.

I can't say enough good things about Cahergal Farmhouse. I really loved it here and want to send special thanks to Michael and Noreen and their son. I hope I will be returning to stay with them soon!

One last benefit, it is only 10 minutes from the Shannon airport! But still was very much in the country.

Very comfortable beds with private clean bathroom. My young son loved waking up and hearing cows right outside his window. Wish we had more time to explore the local area. Delicious Irish breakfast and welcoming hostess!

Very nice place to stay with a great host. Noreen was more than helpful in telling us places to see and visit. Quincy's Restaurant in Quin was highly recommended by her and the food there was excellent. Close to the airport and other sites to see. Because we were staying there at the middle of our trip and the end of it she let us leave some luggage there until we returned. Would highly recommend this place.

Cahergal Farmhouse should be considered a national treasure in Ireland . . . it was is like walking back in time to a simple less complicaticated time with all of the amenities of mordern day.

When we arrived from our journey late in the day we were greeted by Noreen, she had been in the kitchen baking scones ~ she was cheerful and warm and before we could even think of unloading our bags from the car Noreen insisted we come have a fresh pot of tea in the garden and enjoy the scones still warm from the oven with fresh homemade jam. There we were sitting in the lovely garden within moments of arrival with a fresh pot of tea delicious fresh baked scones enjoyin the amazing views of the luscious green fields with ancient stone walls for as far as the eye could see . . . truly one of those absolutely prefect moments in life! We were encouraged to explore the property and have a walk after we settled in. In the morning while we were enjoying our spectacular home cooked Irish breakfast Noreen advised our two children that Michael welcomed them to come help feed the animals if they liked and advised that she had extra wellies out on the back porch for them to wear-they didn't miss a morning with Michael during our stay (Micheal is open warm man with a deep love of horses and sport). Everyone was helpful and sweet, Paul helped with direction to the sites we wanted to see-we all felt like we were staying with long known dear friends. This was our favorite part of our family vacation, we all look forward to seeing Noreen, Michael & Paul again soon.

Room Tip: The family room (Ivy suite) is a lovely two chambered room with a spacious bathroom

I stayed 3 nights with my mom, dad, and younger brother. We were originally only supposed to stay 2 but we canceled a reservation at a hotel in Dublin and stayed an extra night because it felt like home.
When we arrived the first day Noreen, the owner, ushered us into the kitchen and gave us scones right of the oven and poured us tea. We sat in awe looking over their beautiful property. I told Noreen that I'd love to help out with cooking or farming and the next morning I went out with Michael to feed and herd the cows. They are some of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Their son Paul was also amazing and when I told him we were going to the cliffs of Mohr he gave us a route that took us through many amazing ruins along the way. If you are planning a trip to Southern Ireland I would highly recommend
staying with them because it is something you will not regret.

After 4 days in Galway during race week, Cahergal was like coming home. Noreen and her husband and son treated us like long lost friends. They are a wonderful family and helped us with all our needs. If you are fortunate to stay, do have the special Irish beef stew dinner which is offered. It was one of our best meals on our trip. If you are an animal lover, you will be in heaven here. Serenity abounds!

The fields were beautiful and peaceful. The view from our room was perfect and there was lots of hot water in the shower! Noreen, Paul, and the girls were friendly and very helpful. The food was also good. We stayed 7 nights there. The only problem I had was that a few nights it was noisy, and we could hear everything that was going on in the kitchen until late at night, which was hard for me since I have sleeping problems. But overall, it was a good place to stay and the location was very convenient too.

Hi Hazel. I'm delighted you and Justin had a great time. I mentioned it to the Austrian girls about the noise, I am so sorry about that but I suppose girls will be girls. All the best, Noreen.
