“Lovely place, lovely people, close to Dromoland Castle”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

My partner and I have just returned from a lovely 3-night stay at Cahergal Farmhouse.

We were in the area for a friend's wedding at Dromoland Castle and wanted to find somewhere that wasn't the Inn at Dromoland (where most other guests were staying). Boy, were we pleased with our choice, main reasons being: i) LOCATION - just five minutes drive from the castle and surrounded by beautiful countryside; ACCOMMODATION - our room (Blair Rose) was large with high ceilings and adjoining large bathroom and very clean/comfortable. We also had a gorgeous view out the front of cows, their calves, and horses; BREAKFAST - plenty available (choice of cereals; beautiful Irish breakfast consisting of sausage, bacon, black and white pudding, fried egg, tomato and toast; home-baked scones and jam; tea/coffee; juice) and you can eat as much or little as you wish; HOSTS - Noreen and Michael are great. Noreen is on hand to help out if you need it (thanks for setting up the iron for us!) but not in your face. She's also brilliant at recommending good places to eat and local attractions.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back with bells on. Many friends stayed at the Inn at Dromoland and complained about the paper-thin walls (they could even hear people going to the loo!), particularly given that it was more expensive and not remotely as authentically Irish and welcoming.

Therefore thank you, Noreen, Michael and family ... you made our visit a real pleasure and we'll definitely come stay with you again if over your way.

Room Tip: Blair Rose is spacious with high ceilings and large adjoining bathroom and has gorgeous views from t...

I would trade any 5 star hotel for Noreem's scone. Riding on the field with her husband was definitely the highlight of our trip! Our room's clean, quite, cozy. Breadfast's nice. It is a working farm means you get to see the new born calf and dogs are running around( they never bark), horses are always ready if you want to mount.

I was there with my family for a weekend. The reception was wonderful. We were greated with fresh homemade scones and a brilliant cup of tea.the farm was lovely and the house gorgeous. The rooms were really spacious and charming with wonderful view to the Irish country side. We had a full Irish breakfast which was the best I breakfast I ever had. I recomend this place to all of you and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

This Farmhouse was great, our stay was for 11 days. So much room for the 9 of us. Noreen, Michael, Paul and Mike were wonderful. We arrived really early in the morning and got to the house way before check-in, but Noreen made us feel right at home with tea and scones. We took this time to check out the views of the farm from the back patio of the B and B.
Each room having a full bath is a wonderful thing, and the extra 1/2 bath was perfect. The tennis court was well utilized and the patio was a perfect place to sit and read, enjoying the wonderful weather we had during our trip. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked breakfast every morning and dinner almost every night.
When one person in our party had a little fall and needed to rest for a day, Noreen offered to check on him so the rest of us could still go out and explore (it was the last day for some in our group). Paul joined us at Bunratty for a 50th Birthday celebration. We must be long lost family, because that is how they all treated us. Can't wait to go back for a visit. My husband and I will stay in the B and B next time and enjoy not cooking breakfast for a large group.

Room Tip: We rented out the whole Farmhouse behind the B and B.

Arriving very early and tired, we were welcomed with breakfast and shown our room thankfully. It is a short drive from Shannon Airport. Signage to this B&B was scarce as we adjusted to Irish roads and lots of decision corners with little guidance. Our room was clean, functional and plainly furnished. The beds could be upgraded. Hospitality, farm atmosphere, gardens and local event advice were positive and helpful. The home is large and relatively modern with a pleasant breakfast/sunroom, outdoor terrace and gazebo.
