Exceptionally beautiful grounds and buildings. I gave up golf years ago, but as we rode bikes around the property, I was tempted to take it up again, because this is one of the prettiest golf courses I've ever seen.

We stayed in the main part of the castle. The halls and corridors are wonderful to roam and explore. If you have a choice, I would suggest you pick to stay in the castle itself, and not the other sections that were added on later.

Our room was one of several that are in the tower, overlooking both the pond and golf course. Exceptional views and comfort.

The staff is outstanding.

We stayed at Dromoland Castle last September and it was a wonderful experience. From roaming the fireplace-lit halls to staying in a room that made us feel like we had stepped back in time, this was one of our favorite lodging experiences. Our room was lovely, decorated very traditionally but appearing as if it had recently been renovated. The bathroom was also very nice, with great water pressure. Breakfast was very nice (although traditional Irish breakfasts are not our favorite ;) and the room it was served in was beautiful. The staff also went above and beyond even after our stay by making sure our fellow traveler was reunited with an important item she had left. If you are looking to live a bit of a fairy tale and sleep like a king or queen for the night, this is the place for you!

Staying in a Castle was a once in a life time check mark on my bucket list.
The grounds are BEAUTIFUL!
and the history of the hotel is very interesting, it was so easy and kinda fun to just roam the halls and get lost. The food was good but not excellent. I must say if your a golfer this would be the place to stay.
We didn't like how far away from town and shops it was.

Outstanding stay at the Castle. Beautiful setting with excellent meals.
Played golf and the course was in good shape, the greens were true and a fun time.
Took the kids to Falconry and had a wonderful time walking the grounds and flying the birds.
Only negative is no air conditioning if it warm.

Really expensive but also really nice with lots of attention to details. Nice grounds and everything well maintained. Kids loved the falconry, go carts, and suite. Very kid oriented hotel which was nice for us. I would recommend splurging for a suite- we really liked ours! Also if you've got little kids take time to get bread and feed the swans.

My husband and I have been planning a trip to Ireland for the past two years. We finally decided on a 8 day trip with a reputable tour company. We decided to add the one day extension because it would mean staying at the Dromoland Castle. This extra day came with a hefty price but we felt it would be well worth it. Although the castle is gorgeous and the service in the dinning room impeccable, I found our room to be less than 5 star quality. Our room had stains on the worn out carpet, gouged corner walls, a toilet that did not always completely flush or fill back up quickly. What I was most disappointed with was that they pushed two twin beds together!! My husband and I could not even sleep together under the same sheets, if you tried to roll over you would end up in the crack of the two beds! I found this unacceptable since all the other hotels on this trip (that were not 5 star) accommodated us with king beds without even asking. One might ask why I didn't say something to the manager.... We didn't discover this until we went to bed. They had one big bedspread that covered the two beds. At this point it was late and we would be leaving the next day. Needless to say, we did not have a restful night on the hard beds. My take on this... They put you in a lower quality room if staying as part of a tour group. Also, don't expect a view from your room with a tour group or the same quality and selection of food.

Room Tip: Know exactly what you're getting before you pay for a room.

Husband & I recently spent our anniversary at Dromoland during an anniversary trip. After trekking about Ireland, it was a wonderful relief to arrive at Dromoland. We checked in, and set out to explore the grounds via bikes (available at the golf shop). Peaceful, beautiful, serene setting. Just breathtaking. After biking, we returned to our room to get ready for dinner at Earl of Thomond. WOW! We have eaten some amazing meals. At Jules Verne in Paris, George's in La Jolla, etc. Earl of Thomond was the absolute best. Impeccable service, outstanding presentation, and we are still dreaming about the food--from appetizer to dessert to wine service. Just perfection in every way. After dinner, we enjoyed strolling the gardens & making our way to the club house bar for a Guinness before bed. Just amazing. Thank you for everything, Dromoland!
