Hi, my pregnant partner and I stayed here for a wedding. The bed is bowed in the middle. We both only got about 2 hours sleep. The most uncomfortable bed I ever experienced,
There was a spotlight/courtyard light right outside the bedroom window, this lit the room up like day-time..!
The toilet was loose on the wall. Anytime it was used you were afraid it would come off the wall. Overall decor of the room was incredibly poor.
The bar/reception and ballroom was lovely, all kept very clean..
The staff were excellent and friendly.
I refused to pay for my room and this was accepted with no issue. Issues were handled very professionally by receptionist and manager.

Dear Nigelkilduff,

Thank you for your feedback. Our apologies to the deficiencies in your room and the toilet has since been repaired and the security light positioned outside the bedroom window been adjusted.

I'm glad to see, how the staff managed with your feedback once raised.

Regards,

We stayed here for one night as we were at a wedding in the hotel. We were having a few drinks until after about four bottles I realised the drink was out of date by over a month. I asked the bar man did he have a bottle that was actually in date and after searching both the fridges and store room he came back to say the whole lot was out of date. He came up with a cock and bull excuse that he had just recently received a delivery and that they must have been delivered out of date (highly unlikely). We arranged to have a late check out of 1pm but from approximately 10am we were disturbed by house keeping who continuously knocked on the door, every half an hour, looking to get into the room. What is the point in organising a late check out if you're going to be disturbed before the normal check out time. When we did go to get ready to leave the hotel we had to endure a cold shower as there was no hot water in either the shower or the wash hand basin. There was no soap provided on the sink to wash your hands. Overall an absolutely horrendous experience and definitely not somewhere where we will be visiting again. A bottle of west coast cooler was €6.50, a pint of Guinness was €5.50 and a gone off bottle of Budweiser was €5.50 a complete rip off.

I stayed here for one night and it was excellent. The rooms, hotel and staff were brilliant, and everything was clean and tidy. The rooms were spacious and smelt wonderful :-) There is lot's to do and see in the area, and I would definitely go back there for a longer stay :-)

Not even one star worth.

We were sent here as an option for the Powerscourt... what a mistake!
1. The toilet hadn't been cleaned (I won't go into details)
2. No soap on soap dispensers
3. The shower curtain was full of mould
4. The door knob fell to the floor in the middle of the night (???)
5. There was an unfinished water closet in the kitchen
6. The bed moved all around the roo so bad that we need to put things under the wheels to stop it...

Just not worth the money at all. Terrible experience.

Dear JGarbellotto,

Thank you for your specific feedback.
All of the itmes you listed are very disappointing to happen and which I apologise for. We do have soap in all our coutryard rooms (3 bottles). I would be greatful if you could clarify the door knob falling off, as all our doors have card key locks?
A dirty shower curtain and toilet is unacceptable and one will not be over looked.

In regards to the bed moving, I'm afraid this is as a result of new floors been put into our courtyard rooms over the last few weeks. We will action on what we can do to stop this.

We had to stay 1 night in this hotel due to our normal choice of hotel not being able to accommodate us. When we arrived it was dark and we stayed in the courtyard which you have to walk outside to get to. The first thing we noticed was the floors were real creaky. When we got to our room it was cold and dingy and very small. There were two rooms each side of us and one room below. Although we had doors the walls were so thin we may as well been sharing! There was a small tele fixed flat to the wall which could not be moved so you had to sit in a certain position to see it. We decided to go down to the bar to have a drink, wedding in progress so full in the private area, the bar was empty and much like the room, dingy, cold and in need of decoration. We finally retired to our tiny room with our tiny bed and tiny tele. The first thing we noticed was there were loads of flies in our room, so once dealt with we got into bed. There was no peace from the wedding, again we may of well have been there as the room is so poorly insulated. Finally we get to sleep, to be rudely awoken by downstairs coming back to there room to use the bathroom. Again we tried to get back to sleep. Again we were woken by our next door neighbours having rather loud sex!!!! Oh my god it was like living hell. Once the neighbours had finished there business the Male snored like a pig all night. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL. MY HUSBAND WANTED TO LEAVE AT 1.30am IN THE MORNING. IF WE HAD SOMEWHERE TO GO. - WE WOULD OF. DONT GO THERE HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE RANCID LITTLE HOTEL - NASTY.

Room Tip: Don't go here

Dear Ciara1994,
We will action on the positioning of our TV's in our courtyard rooms as best we can. We have recently purchased new furniture for part of our public areas in the hotel and the bar is an area we know we need to work on, within our resources. Our apologies regarding the flies in the room this is a basic standard that should not have happened.
While we are a country house hotel, we do receive a lot of positive comments of our old world charm that blends in with the character of the property. I'm sure if we had known of any noise disturbances during the night we would have dealt with it accordingly as we are very strict in dealing with unneccessary issues.
As we feel your last comments are very strong, we will receive your feedback in the best manner possible.

We got married in the summer hill house hotel in november 2013. I could not fault it on anything, everyone was looked after so well, everything was just perfect. The staff cluld not have been more helpful. I stayed with my parents, bridesmaids, and some other family memebrs the night before and the restaurant was superb. The morning of the wedding they were so lovely. The wedding meal was gorgeous, i was told by several people itw as the best wedding meal they ever had. There was so much wine no one went without.
The location is gorgeous. We got a very wet day and the big open fires and fabulous drinks reception made it just so cosy.
The drinks reception was the best iv ever seen. With tea coffee cocktails hot and cold canapes and a candy cart and chocolate fountain. Was amazing. Nobody was left bored or hungry.
I cant fault them On anything.
