“A "Can't Miss" When Visiting Ireland”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

The stop at Killary Sheep Farm was not a planned stop, but it ended up as one of the highlights of the trip. Tom, the owner, was the epitome of Irish hospitality and incredibly generous with his time and expertise. Sweep stole the show as he herded the sheep, cozied up to the guests, and of course, posed for pictures. My mother and aunt were blown away by the experience and they were both very skeptical from the beginning, but raved about the visit for the rest of the trip and after we returned to the States. The only regret? We were not there during the shearing or lamb season, but even in late

“Fun and interesting.”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

Our group from Celtic Journeys visited Tom at his sheep farm. We saw Sweep, his dog, herd thsheep from the mountain to the corral by us. We then hiked up to his peet bog and he showed us how peet is harvested. Great time and we'll with the trip!

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

We stopped in at the sheep farm as we were driving past and were happy to find that no booking was necessary. Tom, the farmer, was extremely friendly and throughout the afternoon we had some really good talks with him about the running of the farm. The dog demonstration was excellent and it was great to see someone using old-fashioned shears on a sheep. It was particularly interesting learning about just how little the fleeces are worth and why. The peat bog was also very interesting and as a natural resource that is much more efficient for burning than wood, is a convenient thing to have on his land. Over the time we were there we really felt like we got an insight into a totally different lifestyle and the view over the water from the farm was beautiful. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours.

“Perfect experience of the west of Ireland & great for kids!”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

One of the best things we did in Ireland....honestly!
The farmer was very down to earth and relaxed and seemed good with people. The dog is very intelligent and amazing to watch at work. Views are stunning and we got the best family photo (with sheep dog 'Sweep') looking down between the mountains and across the gorgeous water inlet. The kids loved wearing gumboots and walking sticks given and they loved the walk up the hill to see the magnificent views. All in all, great value and a lovely way to see the West of Ireland. Thank you!!!!

“We were there, but where was this sheep farmer?”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

Went to the sheep farm, arriving about 20 minutes early for the 3pm offered demonstration. Beautiful sight, directions are accurate and signage is good. You drive in on a 1-lane road with sheep hanging out everywhere. Arrived, parked, looked around. We saw the sheep shed and the dogs kennels, including Sweep's, so I know we were in the right place... But no farmer ever showed up! We were disappointed to leave without seeing anything, I was so looking forward to seeing the doggy demo!
