“Unquestionably up there with the world's finest places to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2013

We have stayed at Ballyvolane House on several occasions and would highly recommend it. Even though it is not a Spa retreat, you will come away feeling detoxed and relaxed, ready to face the world again.

We were shown the fabulous wedding venue on our last visit - if we were to have our wedding all over again, it would be here. The vision and taste if the owners is impeccable - just stunning.

If you could bottle quintessential hospitality, it would be labelled Ballyvolane House.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review and for staying with us so often. We always enjoy having you all to stay. The weddings are going really well and the house always purrs when it is full of people having fun.

Thanks again and looking forward to catching up again soon.

Best wishes,

Impressive Georgian House with gardens and grounds big enough for a nice walk - a dog will keep you company. The house has ten guest rooms but retains a family feel and Justin and Jenny are charming hosts. Dinner with other guests in the dining room was delicious with excellent service. Our bedroom was fairly spacious and comfortable with a lovely view over the gardens from both the bedroom and the huge bathroom complete with clawfoot bath. The house is abundantly supplied with games, books and places to relax and the owners are generous with their time and suggestions for sightseeing and walks. Compared with some other Hidden Ireland properties the furnishing is not elegant but rather a mix of antiques and eclectic jumble. The potentially lovely drawing room is over-crowded with unattractive seating and uninspired ornaments - time for an edit perhaps? However, this is to quibble. Overal it's a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you very much for staying with us and for your review. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and I will share your kind comments with all the team here at BH. Thank you for your comments about the decoration in the drawing room and I'm afraid we are not planning on changing it anytime soon as we love the mix of antiques and eclectic jumble.

Thanks again and I hope you will come and stay with us the next time you are visiting Ireland.

Best wishes,

Justin

The house is beautiful, service is very professional, food is delicious. Perfect place for any type of holidays. Wine list is impressive. Our 10 years old daughter had good time playing in the gardens and helping Justin to feed pigs and collect eggs. We would definitely return and will recommend it to our friends.

Myself my young family and my elderly parents spent an idyllic Easter at this beautiful old country house . From the moment we arrived Justin and Jenny immediately put us at our ease and opened their home to us.The kids painted eggs and were treated to a hay ride and an egg hunt around the walled garden by farmer Justin. Jenny produced the most delicious food and my elderly mum still maintains she has yet to taste better pork belly than the one on the menu at Ballyvolane house. The small touches like the honesty bar ,the historical conversations with my Dad and the collection of eggs by the kids every morning (to name a few) show the level of detail that Justin and Jenny have gone to to ensure every stay is special to them... I can't recommend this amazing place highly enough !

This is the real deal, staying in a characterful, comfortable country house with charming hosts
ready to see to your every whim! Even though March was a lot chillier than we might have hoped
we very much enjoyed strolling round the beautiful grounds, enthusiastically guided by Dumpling (resident terrier). The dinner is not to be missed, seasonal produce, locally sourced served in
a relaxed atmosphere. The bedrooms felt so much more real than most 'country house' hotels
and the beds were particularly comfortable. We look forward to going back.

My first visit to Ballyvolane House, but certainly not my last. A warm, friendly and professional service in a beautiful and authentic setting. The house itself is beautiful and full of character. Our room was a lovely blend of original antiques with modern comforts (such as an electric blanket on timer as snow was forecast; nice touch).
Pre-dinner drinks were served in front of the fire in luxurious, yet comfy and relaxing surroundings.
The set menu dinner was perfection. High quality ingredients prepared simply but expertly. I thought the food summed up our stay in that what you get is first rate, delivered in a modest way. Hard to beat.

Recently visited the restaurant at Ballyvolane house , dinner for four, a fantastic experience of fine wholesome cooking with a modern twist, a set christmas menu offering a generous selection of courses and v good value for the quality and variety offered. The house beautifully decorated filled with appropiate antiques and a wonderful xmas athmosphere , all this with Bellini and hot spiced apple juice in front of open fire to start with.
