Reviewed 31 July 2014

Nice and clean, charming and gentle, great for a stop over.Huge big comfy bed, lovely big rooms, with nice views over the countryside.Such a comfortable stop and would love to revisit sometime, They make their own wine too , so he had to try it as it would be rude not to!

We stayed overnight on our way back to England. It's not too far from the motorway and is on a fast, fairly busy road. The main house and annexe buildings are beautiful and we were offered the use of the swimming pool when we arrived. Laurence was very friendly and accommodating - we changed the date of our arrival just one day before by telephone. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good with some lovely home-made jams. Unfortunately the local cafe was closed on a Tuesday evening so we had to drive into Bourges for an evening meal. (We're not sure the walk to the cafe would have been particularly easy along the main road anyway). It's a lovely town with lots of restaurants but we would have preferred to walk somewhere after a long drive from southern France.

Stayed here during our trip down to the South of France. A delightful b&b within a great scenery, great hospitality accompanied with great local wines.

Some pro's and cons:

+hospitality
+local wines
+beautiful garden
+nicely, romantic decorated rooms
+great breakfast
+good distance to highway
+parking facilities
+electronic payment

-remote from restaurants
-small bed (double bed)

So: definitely a great place to take a breath or stopover during a trip through France!

We stayed at L'Ermitage for two nights in September . Owner Laurence was away but we received a warm welcome from deputy Katya and Laurence's delightful parents. Our room was comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated. A very good bed.The bathroom was small and the grouting in the tiling around the shower base needed cleaning. Breakfasts were very good. Recommendations for eating out were reliable. Absence of Wifi was a disappointment . It is a facility that should be provided in all good chambres d'hotes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the busy main road outside L'Ermitage

Very nice welcome by Mme de la Farge, the house is situated on the side of a moderately busy road, traffic starts quite early in the morning, the garden at the back overlooks fields and the herd of prize cattle belonging to the owner, the swimming pool is opened to residents, surrounded by beautiful old trees with seats scattered around where one could read a book and enjoy the surroundings.

Our bedroom was tired looking, the bed were moderately comfortable and the bathroom was very basic, hand held shower in an old bath and no shower curtain to stop the room getting wet.

The breakfast are superb with choice of juices, fruits, yogurts and different kind of fresh breads as well as croissants, tea came in a large pot (1 person) and was the real things not tea bags!

The local cafe did provide an adequate light supper.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Everything we could have asked for and more. We were made to feel very welcome. Very handy for visits in Bourges which has the most amazing cathedral.
Also close to some very pretty towns and villages which are worth exploring.

We arrived at Domaine de l'Ermitage late on a Saturday night after having travelled 450miles, the last part through a thunderstorm! Our hostess Laurence, showed us to our room which was very comfortable. The breakfast next morning was excellent with freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade jam. We were only expecting to stay one night but had a problem with our transport so Laurence upgraded our room and made us very welcome. The next morning she contacted the local garage and arranged for the repair to be carried out. She then drove us to collect our transport. This was above and beyond the call of duty - far more than you would expect. We will certainly be returning to this excellent B&B. The white wine produced from their vineyard was delicious - next time we will try the red!
