We were directed here by locals to see not the lighthouse (although its lovely and old-fashioned) but to walk down a track beside it from the carpark to see a whole colony of fur seals in the wild! There were baby seals plopping about, adults lounging, and even some cheeky seals having a splashy swim in one of the tide pools- all natural and wild- and very cool. There is a hide where you can look out to hopefully see some yellow-eyed penguins- at 4pm we saw none, but try to go at dusk to spot a few. There were very few people here when we went- it seems to be a little bit of a local secret.
