Another well organised event by the farm. We are regulars to Woodlands Farm and enjoy all of the special events they arrange during the year. The Halloween event tonight was fun, educational and a great family evening out. My two young sons always get excited going to the farm. The staff are lovely and friendly and the Educational Manager, Hannah is an asset to the farm in many ways.

I have taken my grandson here on several occasions and we love it, he is 5 years old and loves looking at the animals, I would recommend a visit, the volunteers are great..

roisin83 I think you've got your borders wrong it is on the Greenwich / Bexley border NOT London / Kent border. The London / Kent border is another 5 miles to the East!!

The farm itself is OK, it is probably what you would expect 5 miles into London i.e. NOT countryside!

Yes, this is a farm run for the community but you must also remember when visiting that it is a WORKING farm and as such will have areas closed off at times for short periods when animals are being moved around for public safety........however, people are welcome to wander at their will and at no cost.....where else in London can you wander round a 'working' farm? Nowhere....... is the answer, nor could you wander freely around ANY working farm come to that......so, I guess that makes it unique! It is hugely interesting and educational not only for the children who visit but for anyone interested in REAL farming and all that it involves.......from haymaking to sheep shearing and lambing......this is a rare opportunity......so make the most of it! The work done by volunteers is extremely hard and very physical, there's always alot to do and not always enough people to do it, so please bear with us if things are not 'just so'.

So first thing, the review saying it's pricey is in the wrong place - Its free!!!

This place is great for kids, it is small so I'd say a couple of hours at most unless there is something going on - the place is run by volunteers and they rely on donations so there is not a fancy gift shop etc. just a few basic barns with animals (Pigs, Shetland Pony, Sheep, Cattle, chickens, ducks) and nice wildlife areas - last time I was there they had done alot of work around the pond/lake should be looking good now! Despite the farm yard being quite small there is a large area of open fields and woods surrounding it.

Overall don't expect Colchester Zoo, it's a nice place but bear in mind it's a city farm, there are animals, they smell like animals and they haven't got millions to spend on buildings etc.
