We dropped in @ the c&l whilst on our holidays in Selsey. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by a welcoming smile by the staff. The food was delicious & the staff couldn't do enough to help us as we have a 4 month old son who decided he would "have a paddy!" The staff kept our food warm for us until we were ready to eat & a lovely lady on the next table kindly offered to "babysit" our son whilst we enjoyed our meal. 10 out of 10 you will not be disappointed, Harry's mum & dad.

We ended up here after a very muddy walk and we were a bit worried we wouldn't be let in! No worries here as the team were very welcoming and another muddy cycling party also arrived shortly afterwards.

Great food and great service. Yes it isn't really a pub more of a restaurant, and the prices reflect that but it is a very nice place to eat and we will certainly go back. Hopefully when the weather is a little better, if we can get in, as I am sure the Chichester types will fill this out in the summer.

We had the two course set menu, one pint of beer and three soft drinks £52. We enjoyed it

We chose the C&L for a weekend away - just far enough, but not a massive trek type weekend. Great room up in the roof of the building and wonderful service. We arrived very late after the kitchen had closed, but a lovely meal appeared nonetheless.

Dinner was excellent and the range of local wines were an excellent accompaniment.

Really looking forward to returning even if just for lunch!

Room Tip: Room 4 is great, but if you're tall watch your head!

Lunch for my wife and me this sunny Spring Sunday. And instead of the traditional roast we went done the fishy route, which is after all what the C&L is famous for. We weren't disappointed. We had the fish soup and scallops with pork. Both were exquisite. Them followed with Selsey crab for both of us. Fresh, unfussy salad and light dressing. We finished with a vanilla panacotta with rhubarb which was simply perfect. All washed down with the house Chardonnay which is made for seafood. One of the best gastropubs in West Sussex.

Just back from a lovely weekend stay. We had one of the delux rooms ( not the one in the eves) as I am too tall (6'4) which was intelligently enquired of us by the lady we spoke to at the time of booking.

The room was very clean , cosy and beautifully appointed. A clever merging of nice modern touches in a very old building without sacrificing any of its charm. Yes there are squeakes in the floorboards , but it didnt detract from our enjoyment in any way.

The restaurant was very nice and the standard of food is good. It isnt cheap , but the quality is strong so you get what you pay for. We enjoyed two three course meals with half a litre of chardonnay and the bill each night ( which is added to the room for you) was roughly £75.

Breakfast was within the room rate and again was very good quality ( a very nice cooked breakfast but other options are available).

The staff are lovely as well - happy to recommend walks etc based on local knowledge - and look after you with quiet efficiency which is great.

I want to write a review about the restaurant here but could not find it under restaurants which was very surprising as it must be one of the best pub restaurants in Sussex. We had lunch last Monday 4 of us. We had the set lunch and the food was excellent with some unusual and delicious combinations. The waitress who served us was absolutely superb, friendly efficient, knowledgable and diligent without being too ott. Also a really interesting wine list. We have been before but it seems to get better and better

Just back from a lovely mini break on the South Coast. We stayed at Crab & Lobster as it was recommended in Red magazine and we were not in any way disappointed. The deluxe room (1) was spacious and beautifully appointed. The restaurant was excellent and served superb largely fish based dishes (steak and lamb plus veggie options too), my bouillabaisse in particular was fantastic. Finally the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, pointing us to some lovely beaches. A memorable stay and we will be back

Room Tip: Room 1 was lovely
