The hamlet of Newhall Green is a tiny settlement about a mile walk from St Teath.
The tiny cottage is just as described by others who reviewed it. It is beautifully maintained and clean and the appliances all worked well. It is of the delightful traditional design with thick stone walls, and low ceilings, and slate roof. (Very tall people or those with claustrophobia may struggle with the low ceiling height and the confines of the bathroom). You certainly feel as though you are living in a historical residence with all the charm and qquirks that go along with that.
Tracey greeted us and gave us local information. She was a delight and available for any queries.
We stayed for five nights and had great weather through the daytime. Evenings were chilly but the little fireplace was cosy. There was wood left for us for our first fire so we had to get in the habit of buying wood when we went out. The little garden across the road was lovely and included a line for drying washing, a real bonus when you're on a lengthy 5 week trip as we were.
The drive to St Teath could be a challenge for the faint hearted, with a very narrow road and several blind corners. Be aware of the occasional speeding locals and the need to back up quite a way if you meet anyone on the road.
Once you've made it from the cottage to St Teath, the location is in easy reach of many beautiful day trips. We visited Penzance, St Ives, Port Isaac, Boscastle, Tintagel, Padstow, Prideaux Place and Pencarrow House (check opening hours). We thoroughly enjoyed our touring in Cornwall.
I would recommend this rental, with the caution about the separation of the hamlet from St Teath by the narrow road.
The cottage has been beautifully renovated, either very recently or well looked after. Its in a very quiet hamlet a short walk from a lovely, dog friendly pub (the White Hart). The Bettle and Chisel in Delabole wouldn't have been much more of a walk, but wasn't attempted in last weeks mud. Stunning clifftop walks 5-10 mins drive away and extensive sandy beach about 20 mins away at Rock / Daymer Bay.
Owner Tina was very helpful and we weren't even paying - we won our stay as a raffle prize.
Lovely cottage in pretty village.
Central for main attractions in this area of Cornwall.
Dog friendly and lovely walks locally
Clean and modern facilities.
Beautiful garden with BBQ facilities, sun loungers and decking.
Wow - what a beautiful & quaint cottage! We were greeted with cakes, fresh eggs & daffodils and it really was a home from home! A fantastic base to explore so many wonderful places within a short drive, including; Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle, Trebarwith Strands... amongst many more! We couldn't have asked for a more cosy cottage which was a delight to come home to, after a full day exploring! Can't recommend highly enough - we would definitely come back! Many thanks for a memorable stay.
We recently stayed at Coopers cottage for our honeymoon and we couldn't have been more impressed! The cottage is cosy, well kept and has a great range of facilities. It is close to gorgeous beaches and theres lots to do (Tintagel Castle was a favourite of ours)
After arriving at our original honeymoon destination and being less than satisfied with it, we found ourselves seeking emergency accommodation at 8pm, over a weekend, with 2 small dogs during busy seasons. It felt impossible, but Tina was absolutely lovely and along with Tracy, they went above and beyond to make sure we had somewhere to stay. We were welcomed with open arms despite the fact that we arrived at 9:30pm after a long drive, and I have no doubt that this courtesy would be extended to all guests at Coopers cottage.
We stayed with our 2 small dogs and the cottage was ideal for those who may also be staying with pets, the enclosed garden is perfect.
The local pub and sandwich shop are dog friendly too which was a pleasant surprise. If you're used to city life though, do be aware that shops tend to close a little earlier than you may be used to, so do check opening times and food service times wherever possible if you plan to eat out locally. We enjoyed a fish and chip dinner from Smugglers fish and chips one evening and would definitely recommend.
Overall we were very impressed with our stay, especially for the price. It's head and shoulders above it's competitors in the same price band. We look forward to returning again in future!
