this camp site struck me when looking for a site to stay for our 2 week summer break.
Upon arrival was greeted by friendly members of staff whom took us to our pitch. It was not full which was surprising for the time of year.
Was amazed at how quiet it was after 9pm and stayed that way until after 8am.
There were plenty of toilets and showers for both men and ladies and always kept clean through out the day.
Would go back.

I was at the campsite and fully concur with the comments. The music which went on until well past 3am may not have been the fault of the campsite owners but their attitude to disgruntled customers was nothing short of disgusting. The lady behind the counter flew at us blaming us and said we were worse than the people making the loud noise!!!! She made no attempt to apologise for any inconvenience and basically could not care less.
The scenery around the site is nice and conditions generally good but the owners put me off ever returning to this site.
Lyme Regis is beautiful put get your holiday off to a good start by choosing another campsite where you hopefully will get a nice welcoming.

Having read the reviews of The Shrubbery prior to booking and having looked up numerous other campsites, I thought we were surely on to a winner here and in some respects we were but our overall experience of the Shrubbery and the way we were treated by the staff has left a sour taste in our mouths and genuinely upset!!! On our arrival we checked in greeted by a very matter of fact lady who just wanted us to pay our money and had no room for small talk (as was the case when we made a comment about it taking us a long time to get there due to an accident on the motorway to which she made no comment and barely looked at us. We were then directed (not shown) to where our pitch was going to be and The lady pointed to a hedge and told us that beyond that we could pitch so we went to the general area of where we were to pitch and had one tent almost up as it was an instant tent, the other had the groundsheet pinned and the main tent starting to go up when she came round and told us we had to move as that was a pitch for 3 hook ups already reserved. If we had been shown where to pitch this would not have been an issue but we were all tired and hungry and yes I was annoyed at having to move and the disorganisation of it all. However we finally pitched. Our friends had trouble with their tent and the Engineer on site was very helpful and came over to try and fix it. My husband eventually sorted the problem. We had a great first night and the campsite was so peaceful apart from the noise of cars on the main road that runs adjacent to the park but this was not too busy and all had a good night. The second night however was a different story! At 1000pm music started and initially we thought it was coming from another caravan and didn't take any notice but as it got louder and louder, a few campers went to see where the noise was coming from and it was just beyond the campsite so not on the site itself. The music then got so loud that nobody could sleep and it eventually stopped at 0310 am! Campers were fuming as nobody slept that night but as annoying as that was, the most annoying and disappointing thing was the way in which the owners dealt with the complaints of the campers. They were downright rude, there was no apology whatsoever and if they had said sorry, it would have diffused the situation that ensued but they shrugged their shoulders and said it had nothing to do with them! I was absolutely stunned. How could they say it had nothing to do with them when it was interfering with the smooth running of their campsite!!! We were told the last 'party' with that noise was 3 years ago but for us, the fact was we took kids out of school to have a nice weekend camping and if we had wanted a concert, we would have booked one! We were very unlucky with the timing of the party and maybe there was one that long ago but it is mainly for the way we were treated as paying customers that we will never darken the door of The Shrubbery again. Other campers around us echoed this sentiment. I won't go into specific detail but the woman was menacing, pointing fingers and hurling abuse at us. I would point out that we were advised some engineers on site had gone to that party and weren't available the following morning to help us with a problem and yet the owners denied they knew anything about this party going to take place. We find this hard to believe as they seem to run an efficient campsite. Make up your own mind and if you do go, just don't ruffle their feathers as it is clear they can't take criticism or handle a problem when one arises!!!

We have just spent a week at the Shrubbery and having had such a peaceful holiday, will definitely return. The site is ideally located for visits to Lyme Regis, only 10 minutes drive. Seaton, also 10 minutes away has a large Tesco Extra. I would recommend also visits to Beer, West Bay and Sidmouth - all within easy reach.
The campsite has very large pitches with water points not far away from any of them. There are three shower blocks meaning no queues in the morning. They are kept clean throughout. The main reception also houses a launderette and well equipped shop with plenty of local delicacies and treats. Fresh bread is delivered daily and can be ordered in advance. There is a garage and village store 100 yards from the main entrance with a wider choice of essentials.
Facilities for children are excellent with a large playground and crazy golf course in a large safe area of the site. There is also a good dog walking area for dog owners to exercise their dogs in an adjacent field
The owners work around the clock to make everyone's stay enjoyable. A most relaxing, quiet site and excellent value for money, especially with the 7 night deal.
