Iris and Robert were excellent hosts. They are very nice people and run their B&B very well. Breakfasts were great, beds comfortable. Very clean rooms and nicely maintained. Very friendly people. I would definitely recommend them to travelers.

My wife and I have been using Fairhaven for the past 13 years , and have never found a B&B to rival Robert and Iris,s home. Apart from the beautiful setting in the Mournes , the home is always immaculately clean,,comfortable beds hosts very welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast is to die for (always a highlight for me). I have recommended this B&B to several people, and they have all been very happy with the warmth they are received with . It is a very convenient base for touring the Mournes, and close to Newcastle , kilkeel etc

Very welcoming place in a nice house. The room was great with a really big and classy bathroom.
As for the breakfast, it was good and had a great variety, including fresh fruits, which we found out was usually rare in this country.

The hostess is very good at advising restaurants in the town.

I initially found this B+B on a tourist board website, although the link to Fair Haven's own website took me to an English nursing home of the same name. Not a promising start! However my husband and I particularly wanted to stay in Annalong, where he had enjoyed holidays as a child, so I telephoned Iris, who immediately dispelled any doubts I may have had. Fair Haven provides everything you would want in a B+B: a warm welcome from a friendly hostess, excellent accommodation (including a stunning new en suite shower room), very comfortable beds and a fine breakfast. We stayed for 3 nights and would definitely stay there again if travelling to Northern Ireland.

Whilst there we tried each of the 3 eateries in the village, starting with average pub fare at The Harbour Inn on the first night, followed by exceptionally good fish and chips the second. On our last evening we tried the unpromisingly named 'Top Nosh', little expecting the gastronomic delights that awaited us: had we eaten there the first night we would undoubtedly have worked our way through the menu on subsequent nights! The young chef and his team took over the restaurant fairly recently, together with its off-putting name, but just try it: you won't be disappointed. Our meal was well up to top hotel standards but at a price to compare with 'pub grub'. My husband declared his steak to be the best he had ever had, bar none, and we both waxed lyrical over the scrumptious chocolate pots.....
