We booked for a 2 night break, and were warmly welcomed by Tracy, Roger and Stompie the dog.
The drive to the lighthouse is breathtaking, and although it is off the beaten track, that makes it so much more appealing - it's the perfect getaway!
Unfortunately 2 nights was not nearly long enough, and we hope to return for longer next time. The location is amazing, and our room was really comfortable with the most beautiful view out to sea - we could see across to Skye, Lewis and further up the headland, and could see several lighthouses flashing from our bedroom window. The Hide was a great idea, with lots of useful information both about the lighthouse and wildlife, as well as a fantastic window out across the sea (useful in inclement weather, and when the midges are about!).
The Continental Breakfast was delicious, and there was plenty of it, though if you want to sample Tracy's homemade bread you have to be quick!
There is so much to do in the area, as well as exploring the surroundings. A visit to the Gairloch Heritage Museum is a must, as the former optic from Rua Reidh Lighthouse is displayed there.
Thanks Tracy and Roger for a memorable stay, and we hope to see you again soon :-)More
