“Sister's wedding weekend”
Reviewed 13 April 2014 via mobile

We stayed from 29th August - 2nd September 2013 for my sister's wedding, during our stay we stayed in Miri Mawr & Bran both were lovely rooms, lovely individual touches, both bathrooms were gorgeous - never had time to have a bath in the lovely roll top bath though :-( we stayed in the Caban on our last night which was lovely & something I would recommend to anyone looking for something a bit different! We all had a get together by the yurts on the Friday night before the wedding, yurts are gorgeous & individually unique! On the Sunday night before everyone left we all gathered in the garden at one of the cottages, the area surrounding Craig Wen is stunning, amazing estuary & mountain views, campsite in various fields looked very good & people camping only had good things to say. John & Sarah were very welcome & accommodating with all the comings & goings of family & friends over the weekend (my husband & I took over the breakfast room to do the favours for their wedding!) Breakfasts were lovely with home made bread, locally sourced ingredients & self serve section, honesty fridge was a great idea! I bought the toiletries (in rooms/cottages) for myself & my mum before we left which are lovely & relaxing.
I'm sure this will be a place that my sister & brother in law will return to time & time again & would recommend it to anyone visiting the Dolgellau area, would definitely stay again when back in Wales.

Stayed August 2013, travelled with family

we stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend. The views are amazing and sarah is a very attentive host. We loved the fact that everything is local. from the breakfasts, to the tea bags and the honey.Loved the cafetiere and real coffee in the bedrooms and bottled water by the bedside. It is very stylish and in a great location.

Room Tip: We would have chosen the room with the views if it had been available as I am sure it would be stunn...

Great location with lovely views over the bay, close to lots of outdoor activities. We were extremely well looked after and the B&B had all the facilities we needed, rooms were very clean and really nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend this to friends...especially the bacon and maple syrup pancakes!!
Hope to go again soon :-)

Thanks for your feedback. The pancakes are a great holiday breakfast treat and are soon offset by all the activities you can do here!

We stayed at the Slate Shed for three nights mid February and though the weather was not always on our side had a fantastic time. We stayed in a lovely room and were made to feel very welcome by John and Sarah, including our dog who had a special 'dog pack' to make him feel more at home in the room. Breakfast was wonderful and has left me craving their scrummy pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. It was our first time in Snowdonia and the position of the Slate Shed was excellent for exploring the countryside. I highly recommend visiting the Cregannen lakes, either by walking or driving up as we did. The walk across the estuary into Barmouth is a must. We also visited several other coastal towns, Criccieth further north has a great castle and delicious ice-cream parlour! We were able to get out to all of the places easily and really enjoyed our stay at the Slate Shed.

Room Tip: We stayed in Sain which was a warm and cosy room with a view of the forest on the other side of the...

Thanks - we are pleased that you and your dog enjoyed your stay. There's so many great walks on beaches and in the hills here it is a shame not to bring dogs on holiday too!

We had a fantastic two night stay at the Slate Shed B & B in early February. We had a very comfortable room with an estuary view. The full welsh breakfast was excellent, all tasty local products. Thank you to the owners for a very pleasant weekend.

What a lovely time we had! Place is totally welcoming in home from home way, but in stylish boho luxury & great hosts. Room we stayed in, Bran, on first floor has it all, estuary view, super comfy mega kingsize bed & plush slate bathroom with freestanding bath perfect for a good lavender soak (provided) after a stomp up rugged valleys or bike ride along the estuary trail - we rode to the beach one day, then to the little town Dolgellau in other direction at head of estuary (very scenic route) for a pootle about and delicious tea and Welsh rarebit toast! Heaven then to chill out on welcoming leather sofa & sheepskin rugs by the cozy wood burner. The 2 dogs and cheeky cat all curled up together by the fireside said it all - perfect peace & harmony:) Thank you Sarah & John for a wonderful special stay, we'll be back!

Room Tip: most fabulous views over the ever changing tidal estuary and hill tops beyond - like a living painti...
