“Stay in early May 2012”

We recently stayed at Homewood Park for a treat. On arrival everyone was very welcoming and we were showed to the Manuka Suite.
The room itself was nicely decorated, the bathroom was very nice. Big walk-in shower and lovely bath.
One thing that we did find a-miss was kettle / tea and coffee which we have never come across and given the price we paid for the room was expected. An ironing board and iron would have been welcome additions too.
The huge bed which was advertised was infact two single mattresses shoved together which wasn't very comfortable at all to sleep on.
Dinner in the hotel was lovely, we both really enjoyed our meals adn would go back again.
The breakfast was really nice and the service was very good. After breakfast we went into the spa and used mainly the sauna and steam rooms. We did use the outdoor 'heated' pool. I say heated but it was far from it.
The gardens are lovely and very well kept.
Overall a nice place to stay but the rooms could do with kettles etc so you can make your own coffee and tea and I personally think the prices for the rooms are a little steep.

My boyfriend and i stayed at Homewood Park Hotel for one night over the Jubilee bank holiday. We had a special spa package which included one night stay, 3 course dinner, breakfast and 1 30min treatment each. We had spent the day at Longleat so were very happy to find a warm welcome awaiting us when we arrived. As you walk in the croquet lawn makes you think of old country manors and days gone by, very dreamy. It's easy to find too just off the A36 to Bath.

The hotel is small (21 rooms) but perfect for a romantic relaxing getaway. We had a fab room (massive bed!) and it looked out onto the hotel grounds which made you feel like you lived in the 1800's in a Jane Austen book! Our meal in the Lime Restaurant was superb and we had 5 courses inc nibbles and the chef's special to start (a lovely sweet potato soup in a shot glass)! The staff were excellent and very polite and the service was the best we've had in a long time. A wedding party arrived as we were leaving and so we had to vacate by 2pm but we had time to enjoy a great fry up breakfast followed by a few hours in the spa (heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna) and a great massage each. Considering the wedding party was sizeable, this didnt affect our stay at all which compliments the way the staff handled the day!

The only thing i could fault about the experience is that we booked through wahanda breaks and the hotel had not received our voucher for the meal but the staff handled this effortlessly and dealt with the situation by chasing the company for us. Also they could do with a few more loungers in the spa as there are only 3. But thats the only negatives i can think of.

Room Tip: ASk for a room facing the lovely gardens! We had room 12 and it was great.

My husband and I stayed at Homewood Park recently for one day/night of relaxation and good food without our 8 month old baby. I booked the "best room in the house" rate for GBP169 bed and breakfast. We were shown to one of the master suite rooms which was very large with a huge bathroom and separate living room (which being there for one night we didn't use at all). The room was nice but in need of some TLC - e.g. some chips on the furniture, some water stains in the bathroom, a toilet lid which tried to shut while you were using the toilet etc, all of which could be fixed pretty easily. The carpet wasn't very well hoovered but whatever. The living room had double doors out onto a terrace which we wanted to use as the weather was so nice but there was no key in the room. I asked for one at reception later and the receptionist told me the doors couldn't be opened as the last guests had taken the key with them!! This was a bit annoying as I would have thought they would have more than one key for the door and/or they could change the lock? We used the outdoor pool and spa area (hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room) which were all fantastic. The spa is quite small but there weren't many people there when we stayed so there was plenty of space. We had tea and scones outside on the lawn and dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, all of which were fantastic. The restaurant also had a great wine list and service there was very friendly. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the room we had was not worth £169 but the dinner certainly justified the money we paid and the spa was lovely. I think what's missing are small but important touchs such as making sure rooms are 100% clean, repairing old furniture etc and with this in mind, I don't think we'd return again.

Enjoyed our stay very much. The pool and spa area were very welcome as the sun blessed us during our stay! Food was very good and service to match. Will return to this hotel if visiting the Bath area again in the future. The Hotel and grounds make this a very relaxing retreat. Some reviewers are a bit unfair with their comments, but I guess it is a matter of taste. For us it was just right for what we required. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay a pleasure including Mike the maintenance and the cheerful gardener , who made us laugh, Scott the waiter for his advice on the wine for desert. Remember you can always find a fault if you look hard enough but sometimes these are tivual and should not outweigh all of the plus points.

Room Tip: We were in room 19 (suite) lovely views over the valley, pool & spa area

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my partner’s birthday on Sunday – I had a deal that included the room and a 3 course diner for 2. I chose to stay in the Manuka (garden) suite for an added bit of luxury and privacy and the room was amazing. It has lovely views of the well maintained gardens and French doors that open out onto a seating area. The bathroom was beautiful with a big roll top bath, separate rain shower and under floor heating. Coming from London it was nice that the room was so quiet – all you could hear was the birds outside.

All the hotel staff we came across were friendly and the service was always quick – whilst in the spa we ordered several glasses of champagne that arrived promptly. Not sure if it was because the hotel was quiet that evening but we had diner in our own private dining room which was very special.

I booked my partner a head, neck and back massage which he said was very relaxing and the spa itself was very clean.

We don’t have any negative comments to make and we are already working out when we can return for another visit.

Room Tip: book a garden suite for that extra bit of privacy

We stopped here for one night on our way down to Cornwall. We were fortunate enough to secure the "any room in the house for £169" offer. I understand this is offered on selected dates only. We stopped in a garden suite. it was lovely, luxurious, however, i do not believe it is worth the full rate which can be charged for this room. dont get me wrong, they have thought of everything - bathrobes, slippers, down to an umbrella for walking between the garden suite and the main house (as the two are separated). there are some (essential) things which are missing in my opinion - most importantly, tea/ coffee making facilities. I do feel that in excess of £3 for a cup of tea (as part of room service) is excessive. but don't let this put you off.

The spa was really nice and relaxing with an outdoor pool which i understand is heated. the food in the restaurant was absolutely excellent (as was the breakfast).

Visited for Saturday lunch and had an excellent meal. The three of us selected different items from the set menu and were all very impressed by the quality of the food. We could not pick one particular dish as the highlight as all tasted as good as they were presented. Make sure you try the desserts. We finished the superb meal off with coffees in the bar. The service from every single member of staff was very friendly and highly efficient.

With so many good local restaurants I would place this alongside any other dining experience I have had in recent years in the Bath area.
