“Lovely hotel, spa nice but very small”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Arriving at the hotel you are greeted by beautiful grounds and a country manor style building very picturesque, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a junior suite which was a fantastic room with a huge bathroom rolltop bath and outside area with table and chairs.

When we used the spa we were surprised to see how small it was (from the pictures on the website we expected it to be bigger) there are a lack of loungers only a handful instead of an indoor pool its a very small hydropool which has a maximum capacity of 8 people so I'm not sure how this works when the hotel is full must be pretty cosy! was also surprised that there was no gym on site.

The outdoor pool was nice and warm and the steam and sauna lovely, unfortunately there were a lot of children running around so doesn't make for much relaxation would be better as a child free zone to allow people to relax.

We had breakfast in the restaurant, I must admit if I had paid the price they charge I would be very disappointed with just 1 sausage 1 rasher of bacon 1 piece of black pudding and oddly some boiled potatoes?! that said although quantity was lacking the quality was good. Would be nice if refills were offered rather than you having to keep ask for more coffee or tea.

All in all a lovely hotel and rooms, but slightly overpriced for what you get.

Stayed here with family for my birthday in April, was very impressed with the rooms and spa. We had 2 double/twin rooms and 1 triple room. All very spacious and beautifully decorated, the triple room was lovely and happened to be the bridal suite! Felt very spoilt.
We enjoyed the spa, which had an indoor jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as a heated outdoor pool. The only thing we felt a bit let down by was the service, after a Sunday lunch in the restaurant we were brought out our desserts, but then had to wait at least 10 minutes for our cutlery and had to end up getting a staff member, turns out they had forgotten about us, by which time the desserts had melted or gone cold. Although they did the give the desserts on the house. The restaurant was very quiet so not sure why the service was so slow however the food was very good. We also had to wait 20 minutes before getting someone to order our drinks in the bar even though several staff members had came in and out and knew we were there - again we had to ask to order.
Would definitely return and recommend this hotel, rooms very clean, great food and a good location to explore Bath.

This is a nice hotel and good for a weekend break. The rooms are nicely furnished, but avoid room 5 as there is no view and it is very noisy from above.
The spa is excellent, a nice heated pool, excellent jacuzzi and the treatments are great.
It is nicely located, about 6 miles from Bath and close to some nice villages and walks.
The service is variable. In the afternoon at lunch we were served by some young English girls whose service was very lacking although the food was excellent.
In the evening everything changed. All the staff was foreign and the service excellent. The food was the best I have had in ages and we eat out all the time at some of the best restaurants in the world.
The chef is Polish and worked in Michelin restaurants previously and this showed. The food was out of this world. Starters of pork belly and langoustine with apricot sauce, mains of steak and Guinea fowl which were delicious and an assortment of desserts. Tides restaurant is simply one of the best places I have eaten.
The breakfast was just as good and we certainly will be visiting again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 5

We recently stayed at Homewood Park for a reunion with four old friends. On arrival the cheerful and efficient receptionist was very helpful, in fact we couldn't fault any of the staff during our stay, they were all lovely, especially Carlos during the breakfast service. Our room was elegantly furnished and very spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable. Everywhere was immaculately clean. After we had afternoon tea served in the beautiful gardens we all spent a couple of hours in the delightful Spa, I have never swam in an outdoor pool during April in the UK before, however, this was heated to 28 degrees all year round and was really lovely. We made good use of the other spa facilities, its the perfect place to unwind. Slippers and dressing gowns are supplied which were very useful. Dinner in the restaurant that evening was excellent, we couldn't fault the food or the service. Breakfast the next morning was taken in the same restaurant with beautiful views over the gardens, once again the food and service was faultless. It was a pity we couldn't stay longer, but would love to return sometime and will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to all our family and friends.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of days for our anniversary and had a wonderful time.

I think we had a Standard Room booked but got upgraded to a Deluxe Room. I say that based on the size of the bed we had in Room 14. It was massive - and very comfortable. The room itself was at the back of the main house, was very spacious, well-appointed and spotless - with great views from the large windows at the rear. Very tastefully furnished too. The only downside to the room was the shower - which was just about alright - but the bottom of the bath was rounded with no flat surface, so you had to stand on two opposing slopes while having a not very powerful shower. That aside, the room was very, very good. Interestingly, with the curtains drawn at night, the room was completely blacked out and perfectly silent - an experience which is as welcome as it is rare in hotels. We had a great undisturbed sleep on both nights.

The food in the hotel is top notch, well-presented and served in very tasteful surroundings. We had a light supper in the lounge on our first night and then the full dinner experience in the dining room on the second night. We also had a full breakfast on both of our mornings there. Everything about our dining experiences was just fine. The price of food in the hotel is also very reasonable.

At just 7 miles or so outside Bath, we were able to pop in both days for some shopping during the day - which was great. Nice place Bath.

I was a little surprised at the music which is piped into the communal areas, including the lounge, bar and dining room. It was sort of "Radio 2 pop music". I quite liked it but was expecting instrumental classical music - but that might just be me.

The Spa is a bit on the small side, but seemed to be adequate in size for the number of clients in the hotel. We used the steam room, sauna, bubble pool and outdoor pool a few times during our stay and found them very relaxing indeed.

All in all, we were looking for a nice relaxing break and to step off the World for a couple of days. This hotel, in a really nice woodland setting, is a really high quality place which gave us just that.

I recommend this hotel very highly.

We booked the whole hotel for two days for our daughter's wedding this April. The whole experience was stunning. Staff were so helpful and faultless with the planning and on the day of the wedding they were superb. 'They went that extra mile'! The property is beautiful, perfect for a fairy tale wedding. Rooms immaculate, grounds well kept. Thoroughly recommend this venue.

I recently attended a wedding at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Spa was an added bonus and the perfect place to rejuvenate after the big night before. The room i stayed in was very large and nicely furnished. The location is beautiful. Good times.
