We are a 30 something couple who were in search of a relaxing couple of days between Xmas and New Year. We found it. Booked via late rooms, very good deal for a double room. Lovely ambience. Excellent food. Service a little slow but enthusiastic. Spa delightful. Would recommend.

My friends used this to stay whilst visiting and were highly disappointed with this hotel, on arrival the reception staff were eating, heard moaning about how much they hated their job to a spa therapist sat on the desk eating with them. No offer to take our luggage, shown to a cold room then left to it. We had a look around. Hotel was a bit jaded. The spa was empty not surprising with the staff all sat on reception we were not even offered any of their services. The spa had cups and plates left and dirty towels strewn around the place. We booked our friends in to use this hotel and we are very upset we chose such a turkey of a hotel. we joined our guests for dinner but the chef clearly needs his rosettes removed the food was cold, poorly presented and tasteless!

It's not often my better half and I get away on our own without our young daughter so when we decided to go away for weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday it was important that everything was as near perfect as possible. This hotel was a great start to that.

Tucked away far enough to feel like you're on your own and isolated but close enough for a quick run into town this place is ideally located. We arrived just as guests for a wedding we're arriving but the staff still had enough time to ensure the warm welcome this superbly presented hotel promised. The room was more than big enough with a four-poster bed and a nice mix of traditional and modern decor. Best of all it was very clean.

We didn't eat that much here but what we had was delicious if not slightly overpriced.

All in all we had a nice relaxing time and we would certainly think about going back

We stayed in a junior suite for 2 nights. The room cost £500 for the 2 nights. The bath was footed but plastic! No fridge. We had a baby and kept his milk outside the window. It was our anniversay & I ordered champagne on arrival but it never came. The breakfast was minimal & sausages were inedible but our meal in the Lime Restaurant was excellent (so it should be for £180!). We would not return to Homewood Park. The service was sloppy and not up to the standard you would expect for the price. We could not use the spa facilities - which we paid for in the astronomical room price - as children were not allowed in (even a sleeping baby). Children were permitted to use the outdoor pool but it was November and freezing, so no thanks. Compared to Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland, where we spent our previous anniversary, this was a huge disappointment and cost the same money! Go somewhere else. It's not worth the price.

After having booked our stay at Homewwod park i was a bit worried after having read some negative reviews but the bags were packed and we really needed some time away. So off we went .. Arriving up the driveway we parked in the car park and walked the fairly short distance up to the hotel. On first impressions it looked amazing and we eagerly entered the front door. A black and white cat was happily asleep on the rug without a care in the world!!! I was hoping our stay would be just as enjoyable and it was.
We checked in and were told that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room which was a wonderful surprise! The room was lovely with amazing views out on to the surrounding countryside. There were no tea/coffe facilities in the room but we telephoned down to reception who were happy to help and arranged for a kettle and all we needed to be sent up to the room. Lovely!
We went down to the spa and enjoyed the steam room and pool we did not have any treatments but would book them in advance for our next visit.
We were booked in for dinner and we had a wonderful meal on parr with some michelin restaurants we had previously eaten in. Excellent
Breakfast was just as enjoyable .
Overall we had a brillant stay and will be back as soon as we can but next time for a bit longer to really enjoy all that homewood has to offer!!!

I had an overnight spa stay with my friend .
Our stay was generally enjoyable, and the surroundings beautiful. But there were a number of small points, that although perhaps insignificant in themselves, have made it unlikely that we will return to Homewood Park.

My friend and I are regular Spa-Breakers, and were pleased to find Homewood Park on our doorstep, but were disappointed by the following:

1. There were no facilities in our room for making tea or coffee. In even the most basic seaside B&B’s I have always had those facilities in the room. We ordered 2 pots of tea in our room, but at a cost of £7.00 it is not a ‘luxury’ I would enjoy twice. With just one bottle of water provided in the room, we were both very thirsty when we woke, and had no way of making a drink for ourselves. On checking out I mentioned this to the receptionist who told me that a kettle etc were available on request. If that is the case, why were we charged £7 for tea in the room?

2. It seems such a shame that the pool is outside, as the weather was too cold for us to enjoy it, and it seems that the pool maintenance man is fighting a losing battle keeping it clear of debris from neighbouring trees. From the layout of the spa, it seems that it would be relatively simple to cover the pool area.

3. We ordered breakfast in our room but when it arrived the juice had been forgotten, along with one set of cutlery, one pot of tea and cup, and no butter for the toast. One of the cooked breakfasts was completely wrong, and when I informed reception they told us we had ticked the wrong boxes. Maybe I could accept that if one of the items had been wrong, but as I had only ordered 3 items, and there were 4 wrong ones on the plate I can’t see how that would be the case.

4. The DVD player in our room was not working and after calling reception, the night porter came to see if he could find out why. After some time, we realised there was no scart lead from the TV to the DVD player, and so were unable to watch the film we had brought with us.

5. Our break included 2 glasses of champagne, which we were not provided with.

For a hotel of the calibre and cost of Homewood Park, these are simple things that I would expect to be provided as a matter of course.

There are so many Hotel Spas in our area I feel that these matters are the difference between a return visit or looking elsewhere.
On a positive note, I must say that restaurant food was very good , the staff polite and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable.
I did write a letter to the manager of Homewood on 19th September, but so far have received no acknowledgment or reply.
