“Great little hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

We booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding in Gretna the next day. We arrived about 7.30pm and found the staff helpful and friendly. The room was nice and big with everything you expect nowadays in a hotel room TV, kettle etc. I thought the bed was comfy, the only downside was the room was a bit chilly and the curtains let all the light in. So by 6am we were awake. We ordered the express breakfast which was either a bacon or sausage sandwich and a tea or coffee delivered to your room which I thought was a really good idea. The hotel has a good location near some shops and a cash machine with a pub about 10 mins walk away which serves good pub food at a decent price.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay with us.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay - the Grab & Go breakfast option is certainly very popular with our guests.
In relation to the heating, we do not have the heating on for guests arrival during the summer months, but each room controls their own heating if required.
We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We chose this hotel as we were attending a friends wedding neaby. I had no proir expereince and just went off the images on hotels.com search engine. After booking for two nights I was contacted by Linda. From the first contact her warmth and friendliness shone through. Within a few minutes she had sorted out a different room to accommdate my husband who has had a hip replacement, putting us into a lovely large room with bath and shower, plus extra aids for getting in/out of the bath etc. She also advised us on the use of taxis to get to and from the venue.

The location of the hotel is excellent, with the shopping outlet within walking distance. Plus the blacksmiths shop is very close by.

The hotel itself is comfortable and welcoming, we had both been working the day we were booked in so it got to around 9.30pm when we arrived. This was not an issue and my husband requested and was served with food, before enjoying a very good sleep in a comfortable bed. The breakfast is not included in the rate, but as the rates are so reasonable it is not an issue. The breakfast includes a wide range of cerials and pastries, the cooked food is served very fresh and hot and is substantial. We would definately stay again.

We booked the Hunters Lodge based on reviews and price and we're glad we did. Nicely located and a short drive from the main marriage venues. It is a very welcoming, cosy, reasonably priced family-run hotel with comfortable rooms and very good food.

We enjoyed our stay a great deal and will be coming back here for our anniversary next year.

Arrived having driven from Aviemoor, where had played golf until 2 pm, so we were tired. Booked over the internet on the way South. Very friendly welcome , all we wanted was an early night so cannot comment on facilities. Very reasonable rate but it did not include breakfast. We would stay again. A splash mark on the wall by kettle needs attention.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay with us and we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time with us.
We do offer a bed & breakfast rate for guests, but we are finding more often that people prefer to book on a room only basis. Even when booked on a room only basis, we do have the option to add breakfast on and I always offer this to guests upon check in and guests then have until last orders to book for the following morning.
Thank you for bringing it to our attention about the "splash" by the kettle and this has since been wiped off the wall and rectified.
Look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We have just returned from our exclusively yours package at hunters lodge. 03/05/2014. From the moment we walked in the front door on the Friday afternoon we felt at home. Linda and Garry are welcoming and warm with exceptional hospitality skills. Linda showed us to our bridal suite ( which is huge! ) she then continued to show all our guests to their rooms and help with any queries. Nothing was too much trouble at all. She fetched my mother in law a heater. Unloosed a tap for my parents, she was amazing. Their was plenty of tea, coffee, choc in all rooms and cookies if your peckish.
The Friday night Buffett was the best Buffett I have ever seen. And it tasted divine. Their was so much choice, the coleslaw was awesome. I have coeliacs and Linda arranged for me to have a jacket potato and a salad and some special bread, again so helpful and thoughtful.
For breakfast we had the best cook breakfast I have had in years, perfectly presented bacon, sausage, egg, beans, grilled tomato and tasted yummy their was a large selection of cereals, toast, jams , marmalade , tea, and coffee and fruit juices and milk.
The wedding day. Linda went above and beyond to make our day so magical and special, she totally organised everyone. And when my make up artist was over an hour late she calmed me down and then helped my bridesmaid get my wedding dress on, I can never thank her enough for that.. She got me to Anvil Hall on time.
The wedding meal..... We had the beef and it melted in your mouth, Linda told me Garry her husband does all the cooking and he is an amazing chef. Everything came out perfectly cooked and tasting delish! Even the sausage and bacon baps on the evening were amazing. They arrange and timed everything perfectly. We would both highly recommend Hunters Lodge Hotel, for a wedding package or even a stay over. We will be back without a doubt. And we want to thank Linda & Garry for our amazing and magical wedding and all their effort and hospitality, all the staff were so friendly. Again thank you all so very much Mr & Mrs Hankin. 3rd may 2014. Anvil hall.

As the owners, we thank you very much for your wonderful review of our hotel. We work hard and it is always a pleasure to receive good feedback.
Our "Exclusively Yours Package" is proving very popular with wedding parties - something we introduced in 2013. Two nights stay for you and your guests, buffet, wedding meal and baps in the evening.
We are very lucky to have very good staff who are always happy to go the extra mile to make our guests stay as as good as possible. As owners, Garry & I send our best wishes and hope you will stay with us again in the not to distant future.
