“OK if you need a quick bite to eat”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

The Gretna Inn was ok, The portions of the food was large but tasted just ok, nothing special. There was a good selection.

The prices were about average for pub grub and the décor was a bit dated but seemed to fit in with the style of building.

Staff were friendly and helpful

“Good service disappointing roast”
Reviewed 21 October 2013 via mobile

We decided to call in at Gretna outlet village but rather than a sandwhich or light bite we were hoping / searching for a good Sunday roast. When we arrived we were delighted that the carpark and pub itself was busy. We thought we were on to a winner. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and chatted away. We all decided to have Sunday lunch, don't get me wrong the meat was plentiful but for me there was something missing. The lamb was average the Yorkshire nothing special. The carrots and brocolli were tastey served with a crunch which was nice but the boiled and roast potatoes lacked something!
Maybe next time it would be best to try something off the menu instead.

Reviewed 6 October 2013

We had an absolutely gorgeous meal her e at dinner time and a few drinks in the evening, Staff are very friendly and take the time to talk. They also allowed us to sit in the restaurant part even after it had closed as we were comfortable in the corner. Cant recommend this place enough

“Nice old school pub”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

The Gretna Inn is a lovely pub right near the border that offers nice meals at a reasonable price. While it doesn't seem to have a lot of competition in the area (we were staying about 10 miles away) it would still give any other pub a run for its money.

We found the range of meals to be broad enough to offer a decent variety either for differing tastes or multiple visits. I would like to see more local brews available ... but that may just be a limitation of the area. There was a good range of drinks to suit all drinking preferences as well.

There is also a kids menu which had good options, generous portions and the added benefit of ice cream on the dessert menu that was served in plastic animal shaped containers that can be taken home. This was a real hit.
Overall, it was a nice pub in a handy location that gives the passing traveller or temporary local a warm place for a decent meal and a drink at a reasonable price.
