Anyone who likes steak should definately travel from a far for this one! It is utterly delicious cooked to your liking and served on a hot slate, with a bucket of chips to share and i always order the veg and home-made coleslaw as both are to die for! Amazing! Good warm service also, they work very hard. Best steak ive ever had not just for weddings!

Stayed here for my sons wedding in August, they got married at Anvil hall which was lovely.
The hotel is better in real life than in the photos, staff are very helpful, (especially the little blonde waitress) when we asked for chips and egg for supper the night before, they made it for us, even though it wasnt on the menu. They worked hard to make it special for us,the dining room was stunning, all set up for the reception, for us. The food was very nice and plentiful, tomato soup, delish!
The rooms and bathrooms were nice, although the shower in our room was a bit mouldy in the corners, nothing a bit of bleach won't put right.
All in all we had a great weekend and a perfect wedding, no complaints except for the rainy weather!
Would recommend this hotel for weddings, they obviously know what they are doing!

We used Gretna Chase for our accommodation and wedding reception as we were getting married at Anvil Hall under 'Gretna Wedding Bureau' package. It is one of the recommended hotels and part of the package included 2 nights for Bride and Groom in one of the honeymoon suites. Everyone we spoke to said we had the best venue and hotel in the area and they weren’t wrong. We chose to stay 3 nights and were given generous discounts for our whole group on both stays.

Claire and her team made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble on both our initial visit in November 2012 and again in March 2013 for our celebrations. We only made one visit during our planning, as Claire was great as liaising with me by phone and email throughout.

We were able to organise the menu planning, deposits and final balances, hire of the dining area for the evening , even down to little things like hot blackcurrant for the kids (instead of mulled wine) on the reception prior to our meal, all by phone and email.

On our visit in November, we were impressed with the personal service we received both in the hotel and the pub. The food samples were delicious and it was difficult to make a choice for our ‘wedding breakfast’ menu as it was all so great. The calamari was juicy and cooked to perfection, as were the salmon and steaks. Claire also stayed late to greet us, which showed real customer commitment.

The online photo’s don’t do this venue justice……there has been some recent refurbishment done and the rooms are lovely and old fashioned in a boutique style. The hotel grounds are beautiful and there are lots of great nooks to take photo's in if the weather lets your down (see pictures).

We were also able to book our preferred rooms in advance, so that the parents were grouped on the same landing as us near to our honeymoon ‘Adam & Eve’ Suite. This room has a beautiful view across the fields, a large whirlpool bath and four poster bed. Our siblings were on the other side of the hotel grouped together again in the classic rooms, as we wanted my sister who has a bad back, to have easy access to a walk in shower.

For our stay in March, which was Easter weekend, Claire again made sure she was available to arrange the final plans on Good Friday Morning. She helped my mother set the table plan on the day of our wedding, so that everything was just as we wanted. We are so grateful for all the extra special personal touches by Claire and her team that made our wedding weekend run smoothly. We will certainly be planning an anniversary stay at some point in the future. A special mention too to the ‘wee’ young dark haired girl who served us for breakfast and dinner on both visits (sorry I forget her name). She is so sweet and deserves recognition for her friendly and accommodating service.

A bit about the surrounding area. …Gretna Chase is just on the edge of town, actually bang in the middle of the border signs of England/Cumbria and Scotland! A great site to go for a walk or jog across the fields and close to ‘Gretna Gateway retail outlet, The Blacksmiths Shop, and Anvil Hall. The shopping parade in Gretna town included everything you need such as a Spar, Gretna Wedding Bureau, Hype Hairdressers (who come out to your hotel to do your hair on the day) & Gretna Flower Basket (flawless service).

It’s the little personal touches and friendly people that make Gretna Chase and Gretna Green stand out.

All the companies in Gretna Green work closely together to give you the perfect stay whether it is a wedding or just a vacation. The hairdressers even popped into the Wedding Bureau while I had my hair trial to get them to stay open late on a Friday and the staff at the Wedding Bureau organised our visit to the Anvil Hall on both occasions prior to the ‘BIG Day’

Thank you ALL for helping to make our wedding run without a hitch and a totally unforgettable weekend.

Room Tip: Tips: Pre-book a visit before your wedding so that you can plan your day to perfection. Deluxe rooms are worth the upgrade. If you want a scenic view ask for the rooms facing the back garden. If you want anything that’s not listed on site, speak to Claire as she is very accommodating. The Adam & Eve room has the best views.

As wedding venues go this was perfect. Food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We stayed at the P+F suite which was brilliant. All the guests from both families and friends had nothing but good words about the reception. Thanks

Lovely hotel nothing was too much trouble food at reception was amazing and huge portions. Rooms clean and ours the adam and eve suite was huge with whirlpool bath Bar prices were within reason and food reasonably priced we even found child portions were quite enough for most adults.
