“Fantastic!”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

We decided to have a night away and looked for a hotel in nearby Abersoch. Luckily for us they were all either closed or full - so we booked into the Tremfan Hall Hotel and also had dinner in the restaurant next door. There are just five or six rooms all individually furnished with en-suite bathrooms. Our room was lovely and overlooked the back garden. The two rooms at the front were bigger and had stunning sea views. A roaring open fire greeted us on arrival and a cup pf tea there later in the afternoon was perfect on an Autumn day. Dinner was exceptional and could not be faulted. The service was perfect and although obviously fully booked we did not feel rushed. Splash out on a glass of dessert wine - it finished the meal perfectly. In the morning breakfast was served in the hotel half of the building. A large table greeted us and we were slightly worried about having to share with the other guests but it was fine, great food and conversation. We really didn't want to leave and we shall certainly return. We were disappointed by Abersoch itself but Tremfan Hall was FAB-U-LOUS!!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have great sea views.

Superb Haloween Sunday lunch, we arrived to a brilliant well run chaos. Our sitting was 4:30pm so they had had two sittings before us, a little nervous that the menus would have been eaten up by those that went before but non of it. I expected good honest food, the food was far greater than my expectations, the simple things done well; warm plates, piping hot food done really really well. I was so happy I went long on a really good bottle of wine too because I felt the food prices were so reasonable. There was a Haloween theme in the restaurant, they had gone to that little extra effort, they were dressed in theme too! The kids really enjoyed their food including good old spicy ribs, the adults totally happy too - it's a perfect recipe for happy punters.

Like to spoil my wife who is an exceptional cook, the number of restaurants which meet her high expectations are far and few between .Imagine my embarrasement when the rib eye steak she was served was quite inedible due to being full of gristle and tendons. So much for the Friday night special, and my suggestion of a gourmet meal out.

We just spent the weekend 14th and 15th September here and loved it. Tremfan Hall is a house bursting with character and very cosy. Our room was spottlessly clean with fantastic views from two big windows. The bed was so comfortable that I had the best nights sleep for a long time. There was an endless supply of hot water that was almost volcanic in temperature. The staff were very welcoming and friendly - nothing appeared to be too much trouble.

Breakfast was deilicious with plenty of choice and very high quality ingredients. We booked a two night deal which included one three course meal in the restaurant. The food was amazing, one of the nicest meals I've had.

All in all a great weekend. We would recommend Tremfan to anyone and will certainly be returning. Well Done.

Just arrived home from having Sunday Lunch at Temfan Hall and just had to comment how nice the place was, how attentive all the staff were, but most of all how lovely the meal was.
There were eight of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We were the last to leave after having a lovely, leisurely afternoon.
We'll definitely be back soon.

We were asked for credit card details when we rang and this should have been a warning. We were also advised that the restaurant was booked out until after nine, which was too late for us, not having stopped for lunch. On arrival, nobody came to greet us, even though we could hear people moving around. After ringing the doorbell a number of times and waiting 15 minutes, we rang and finally got a response.
Rooms were a bit grubby, bath was dirty with flaking enamel and there was no shower. There was a wonderful view though. The following morning, other guests at breakfast were surprised to hear that the restaurant had been booked out. The final indignity was when the manager? Came out and demanded payment while we were just starting to pack the car.

Room Tip: Insist on inspecting the room before confirming your stay.
