Just got back from spending an incredible 2 weeks in La Grange. Bags of space for the 8 of us (4 children & 4 adults), so comfortable, everything you could think of and lots of gorgeous features. The gardens and pool splendid, I could spend all day looking at the view.
Bob & Andy are fantastic; warm, welcoming and great fun to be around.
Location wise it's a 15 minute drive to Pons, a lovely small town with your big supermarket. There is a fab cafe/restaurant by a river which does great food, has a play park, pedalos, crazy golf and a pony ride.
There is a fantastic beach at St George's De Didonne, free parking, very safe, so much space and lots of water sports.
We headed to Fouras, where you can see Fort Bouyard. You can do boat trips around it for 45 Euros.
The water park at Les Antilles de Jonzac was great fun and a good way to spend a few hours, or more. 30 Euros for a family ticket! Wouldn't get that in the UK.
Whilst we enjoyed taking in the sights of La Rochelle, and other places, we all said that the most fun we had was at the gite. Mucking around in the pool, relaxing in the garden watching the kids play (or fight over whose turn it was to go on the swings), and soaking up the sun. Or nightly BBQ's, sitting outside to eat, drink and be slightly merry and then watching the incredible sunsets.
Les Tilleuls is an incredible place to stay and we hope to return to enjoy the magic of it again.
