Recently back from a weeks holiday here and would highly recommend this gite. Perfect accommodation for a family of 4. The garden and the pool were a big hit with us and the kids. Had a BBQ three evenings we were there as it was so relaxing. The small town is only a 10 min drive away with plenty of bakeries and a supermarket which is great. Karen and George were very friendly and helpful. A peaceful week in a beautiful country.
We have just returned from a fabulous three week family holiday in this beautiful gite. The pictures tell only half the story, and we were pleasantly surprised on arriving, as the all the rooms were very spacious and the whole house was well equipped with everything you could need on a holiday, including a washing machine. The gite is in a small development of only four houses, and the garden is large with a sunny aspect and not overlooked. The splash pool is perfect for cooling off, and is plenty big enough for a family of four (our family includes a 12 and 15 year old) to use altogether to play ball or even float about on lilos! There is a handy BBQ which we made use of almost every evening, eating outside relaxing and enjoying the peaceful countryside.
The owners Karen and George live next door. They are very welcoming (leaving a much appreciated welcome pack of essentials including bread, wine, milk, butter, cheese ham and jam), friendly and on-hand for anything you need, but most importantly, totally respect your holiday privacy, happy to leave you to your own devices if you so wish.
The location is absolutely perfect for exploring this beautiful area of France. Close by there are many pretty towns to visit: Pons, Cognac and Jonzac are the nearest. We also had many fabulous day trips to areas all within a 90 minute drive: Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Royan, Talmont, Brantome, La Palmyre, Saintes, also great castles and of course, educational distillery tours in Cognac!...too many to mention, but all of these places offer a variety of activities to keep all ages entertained. These included beautiful beaches, river walks, mediaeval towns, city shopping, kayaking, crazy golf, tree top climbing ropes, a zoo and a monkey sanctuary!
There are boulangeries a few minutes drive away, and several large supermarkets are to be found about 10 minutes away by car.
All in all, this is one of the best gites we have stayed in, it is a real 'home from home', which I would fully recommend without any reservation at all. We will definitely be returning!
