“Gorgeous accommodation but location not what I expected”

the accommodation was lovely, clean well equipped with amazingly comfortable beds, excellent kitchen facilities (washing machine and dishwasher came in very handy), a lovely garden and gorgeous views. Two negatives... the bath only fills to about 10cm before the hot water runs out so only suitable for a baby. There is no tv reception in the bedrooms so not sure why there are TVs in each bedroom room that you can't watch. Sadly the weather hasnt been great recently and the sandy beach has been pretty much washed away. It was a good 10ft from the promenade onto the beach and the beach steps only reached to 6ft down so to get onto the beach required a jump of over 4ft from the bottom rung. Certainly not easy with children and a dog. Saying that the locals all said the weather had only recently washed the sand away and they were all predicting it to return at some point. If you drive a few miles towards winterton there are some gorgeous beaches to enjoy so if you have a car then it isn't a problem. Lovely places to explore in Norfolk and nice for exploring the broads. All in all a good restful stay.

Thank you for your review of Wyndham Beach House. We are so pleased to read that you and your family enjoyed your stay. It is such a large county and there is so much of it to explore. We very much hope that should you return to North Norfolk some time in the future, you will contact us at Norfolk Hideaways.

“Fabulous week”
Reviewed 21 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

What a lovely beach house. This is so thoughtfully well equipped from numerous toys to entertain a range of children to the selection of cook books and DVDs. On arrival we were greeted with homemade scones and jam, delicious and much appreciated and chilled Prosecco in the fridge. Loved having a Nespresso machine for my daily espressos. We were fortunate to have great weather for all but one day so spent many happy hours on the beach and visiting others. Our granddaughter loved paddling and swimming in the sea and also just watching the crashing waves. The beach is accessed by steps to the prom and then a few more onto the sand. If you want a beach holiday this house has to be up there with the best, well equipped, a stones throw to the sea and wonderful views. Walcott itself is very small with one shop, a cafe and a fish and chip shop, however there are plenty of places to visit nearby including the Broads.

“What a lovely property”

This is a very well appointed beach house with spectacular views of the sea. Plenty of on site parking at the front with a large mainly grassed garden at the rear which our dog loved.

We walked in to find a plateful of gorgeous home-made scones and jam plus ice lollies in the freezer which were all very much enjoyed and appreciated.

The beds were comfortable which, to us, is very important. We've been to some lovely holiday cottages that were let down by uncomfortable beds. The furniture also was very comfortable. The bedding and towels were of great quality and everything was very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, crockery etc. including plenty of child friendly plates and beakers. There is a little coffee machine that uses pods. There was a starter supply of pods, instant coffee and tea supplied

One minor point was that we particularly wanted to be close to the beach for the benefit of our dog but had no idea until we arrived that dogs weren't allowed on the beach in front of the house during the summer months. There were people ignoring this rule but we are very law abiding and don't like breaking rules especially with the threat of a not insubstantial fine. However just a few minutes walk further along (as you turn right out of the gate) there IS a dog friendly part of the beach so we made good use of this. As I say it was no more than a niggle but something dog owners should be aware of. There is also a dog friendly part of the beach at the other end of the village.

During the week we found the beach and surroundings peaceful enough but the weekend was busy on the beach and there was quite a lot of noise from the beach users. Just something to be aware of if you are looking for an entirely peaceful holiday. We were there during term time so I expect it will be much busier, and potentially noisier, during school holidays. Also there is a path that passes right in front of the house and with the wonderful big windows you might feel a little bit on show unless you pull the blinds but then you'd be foregoing the wonderful view. We didn't find people passing every now and then too intrusive but, again, if this is something that might bother you perhaps this won't be the place for you.

However for families with children this place has to be the bomb! A beach right in front of you and a lovely safe grassed garden for them to play in - perfect. The owners, who have children of their own I believe, have a little store room full of toys for the children and there are also buckets and spades provided.

All in all we found this a little gem of a place and well worth staying at.
