We went after the bluebells had been at their best, but still a good visit with good walks around the grounds of varying standard. Its easy to get muddy on the longer walks down through the woods. There is a café to enjoy after your walk. D&S 5/14

Check the bluebell barometer on their website each spring to make sure you visit at the optimum time to see the bluebells at their best. This year was outstanding, beautiful perfume with banks and banks of bluebells in a lovely woodland setting.
Outside the bluebell wood there is also some beautiful wisteria grown as trees, amazing.
Highly recommended.

Unfortunately we missed the bluebells at their best, but the gardens are beautifully laid out and maintained. We walked the grounds for a good hour and felt quite relaxed as we left. Outrageous azaleas adjacent to rhodendrons were all in full flower, amazing!

We were lucky to visit the garden at the ideal moment for bluebells and it was fantastic!

But the garden is so beautiful that we're sure it must be as beautiful at other periods of the year... and we've decided to go back in the summer!

It truly is a wonderful garden, huge, and very quiet. A lovely afternoon!

We arrived about noon. A gentleman sitting outside a house sold us tickets - cash only, (visitors need to note this) and we went straight to the café where they served light lunches. We had quiches, which could have been a bit warmer.

The gardens were amazing! Totally informal, every turn gave a new surprise. First there were the rhododendrons and the azaleas. Then along a glen to a really good display of bluebells. I took over 270 photos - 63 3*. Coming back past the house, I asked when the gardens were laid out, and I was referred to the gentleman standing there - ‘You’d better ask the owner’. Edward Barham said that his grandfather had done most in 1928. It is now kept up with just two gardeners. They must be busy.
