Visited for 2nd year running and both times we weren't disappointed. Lovely little site set in Nidderdale with great views, good facilities and access to the gorge thrown in (the kids loved squeezing through the rock and down the chamber to the Highwayman's hideaway). Nice on-site cafe which serves cold beer & wine and a pub a short walk over the fields-whats not to like??! We also booked sunny hot weather which delivered too! Staff v helpful & the proprietor (or Mr Whistler as our kids christened him) has always been v helpful & keen to go out of his way. A favourite for us!

Thank you for your comments. I often whistle as I go about so people know where I am. Some times people know where I am because my feet hum!

“Great family outing”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We have visited the Gorge on two separate visits many years between, on both occasions the whole family loved it! You can take as long as you like exploring the many falls and the cave, the cave is quite scary and not for everyone? But good if you can! They either loan you torches or take a good one of your own! You will need a good light in the cave, if there are a few of you take more then one.
The restaurant is worth a visit too!

“Perfect Introduction to the Yorkshire”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We went in search of le Tour de France and found the most welcoming campsite in the most beautiful place. Great riding and impressive breakfasts! I am feeling the need to go back soon with the family in tow this time for some Gorge Scramble action!

“Rewarded with breakfast”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

In the spirit of Le Tour took to the roads for a glorious ride up through Nidderdale to be rewarded by a delicious breakfast at How Stean Gorge. Seemed so many things going on up there for kids and young teenagers so will definitely be back and probably with tents.

Beautiful area and loads to do for the more adventurous.

Lovely little cafe serving delicious snacks and cakes with plenty of walks in the local area to work the calories off.

Try a homemade Yorkshire slice. Delicious
