Lovely resort, great outdoor activities but they still need to sort out their restaurants - not much variety in terms of food and the day we stayed (28th of July) the main restaurant's kitchen had a fire and so was not open for dinner.

We ended up eating at Amwaj where the food was average in terms of taste but seriously overpriced - a little disappointing after you'd had a great day at the pool and are famished later!

We were also looking forward to kayaking that evening but because of the windy weather it had to be cancelled - would love to visit the resort again when the weather gets slightly cooler and go more of the outdoor activities the resort has on offer.

A tip for those visiting would be to fly to the island directly from Dubai rather than driving and relying on the ferry service. Flights can be booked easily using Rotanajet and would spare you a lot of hassles.

During our stay, on checkout we were asked which departing ferry we'd like to be accommodated on. The service we chose ended up being overbooked by Anantara which left about 7 of us without a seat, standing outside (while everyone was sat inside in the AC) for the duration of the ride back to the port - which was delayed by an hour!

All in all, I think our stay was memorable - the safari trip was fun even though it was an early start and the guide we had on our tour kept us well informed about the island's history and it's animals.

Would love for the hotel to improve it's restaurant offerings and the ferry shuttle service because we'd love to come back!

Dear BDubai

Thank you very much for this 5 star review, we are very pleased to learn that he had a memorable and enjoyable time.

We also thank you for your constructive comments regarding the new pricing which we actually benchmarked against other five-star resorts and we are confident that we do offer excellent value and will continue to make sure that we charge fairly.

Regarding the boat times, this service is operated publicly for the island and whilst we do try to book seats for all our guests, if there are delays this can mean more passengers than we expect. I am sorry that this had a negative impact on your stay and we hope that should you wish to return we can assist with transfers outside of peak periods.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback, we hope to see you back soon.

Just love this hotel ...i stayed there twice ..and it was amazing. The first time we stayed in one of the 1 bedroom villas , and the second time we booked a room ... and i would say the room was so much nicer and cozier..still the villas are nice if you would like some privacy. Everything was great ..the rooms..the spa .. the facilities the activities that the hotel provides ..(like the safari for instance, it was lovely) , the great service and of course the wonderful location. My husband asked them to arrange a private dinner by the beach , and it was AMAZING ...super romantic ..and the food was way above expectations.. ( i must give credit to the proffesional creative chef ..). i would stay there again and again ....

This was our second trip to Desert Islands, and we'll be returning again in the future. Top quality staff in the hotel, very high quality rooms, and surprisingly good value restaurants. The location is beautiful and you're able to join a variety of excursions to experience what the island has to offer. Highly recommended!

What a restaurant!! Had a wonderful meal organized by the Manager Mr. Moath Hamdan. This guy is a professional and ensured we had the best meal and overall experience. He took the kids out into the bush, gave them torches, looked for animals and let them fetch their own ice cream. Overall a must try experience and perhaps one of the best restaurant experiences we ever had!!

Dear michaelquinndubai

Thank you for this fantastic review of our Savannah Grill. viewers will be interested to know that this is the signature restaurant of Anantara Al Sahel Villa Resort and spa on Sir Bani Yas Island.

The restaurant itself follows the same theme of the resort being an African inspired savannah Lodge. without even more proud to share that our Chef de Cuisine, Chef Gerry is straight from Zimbabwe and a true specialist in authentic African cuisine.

we really hope that we can welcome you back soon.

Best culinary regards

Stayed in main hotel. Other resorts around 15mins drive but there are scheduled buses for transfers. Transport available outside these for an extra fee. Other resorts are villas and a bit newer. One at beach another inland.

The main hotel rooms look are very big and furniture struggles to fill the room but well maintained and looked new. We had garden view on ground floor which had loungers so had opportunity to enjoy lying outside in comfort of own room.
Good coffee machines and large beds. No in room hotel guides which detailed services and schedules.

Gym was very well equipped for the size of the hotel. The facilities at the al yaam sister resort were minimal in comparison.

Lovely pool area and plenty of beds and nice touch of complimentary drinks and towels provided occasionally.
There was a cocktail reception that we were invited to meet the management which was nice and the amwaj bar restaurant is recommended for reasonably priced tapas style dishes as a less formal dining option. Recommend you book ahead other restaurants as they seemed to book up early.
The safari and other activities are on offer at an additional cost which was disappointing as the hotel was not cheap.

Dear ExpatscotAbuDhabi

Thank you for taking the time to shave is very informative and positive review. We believe in order to experience all of this island has to offer guests would need a full week, there is literally that much to do. So we do hope to welcome you back very soon, perhaps next time staying in one of our lodges for the ultimate in luxury.

Thank you and Best regards
