Fantastic country pub. Lots of history mixed well with modern comforts. Wooden beams, great atmosphere, and a warm welcome.
Decided on the spur of the moment to have a meal out for just the two of us, and picked The Pelican in Talconeston. So glad we did.
The experience was excellent all round. Beautiful food, well made and perfectly cooked with a tasty home made garnish. A great selection of drinks and a small shop section with local beers and wines to take home. Staff were friendly and efficient, without being too in your face. Just the right level of service.
The whole place was bright and clean. If the weather had been better we'd have enjoyed the decked area out back.
All in all it is highly recommended.

What a gem of a pub! Got taken there today by my daughters for a Father's Day treat and what a treat - stylish decor, friendly welcome and some fantastic food. And despite it being called The Pelican it didn't come with a large bill attached! Will definitely be back.

The first time we have visited here and we were not disappointed. Menu choice excellent, service was very friendly and the food was amazing - we all had something different and all were beautifully presented and well cooked. A lovely atmosphere - will definitely be returning here.

Stayed here for 3 nights over May Bank Holiday - very friendly & welcoming with nice room and lots of big soft towels. The food was well cooked and presented - only gripe was breakfast to early especially on a Sunday so we skipped it twice - a bit more flexibility would make it a lot nicer and maybe a continental option rather than just the traditional breakfast. Nice wine selection and a nice atmosphere in the bar in evenings.A lot to recommend it for a short break.

We've been here a few times, both for food and just for a drink. There's a nice atmosphere. You can either sit in the bar which has a traditional pub feel, or in the restaurant at the back which is a bit more formal but still very comfortable. There's also a beer garden for sunny days. But the best thing about this place really is the food. Lots of choice and it's really good quality, not your normal stock pub food at all. I highly recommend the Pelican Burger, just make sure you have saved your appetite - I had to leave some the first time round which was a crime as it was delicious! (not a frozen patty or horse burger in sight!) They take good care of families, even offering free nappies in the toilet for emergencies, which as a mum I really appreciated. I see they now have a small outdoor play area for the under 4s too, which I keep meaning to let my toddler try out. They seem to be striking a good balance between attracting families without turning it into one of the garish "family pubs" with poor food and dirty carpets! The only bad thing about the place is that it if you are not in the know it is easy to drive past it without a second glance. Certainly,we had never been in it until we moved to the next vilage. Don't! You will be missing out on a real gem.

We went for Sunday Lunch at The Pelican with the family. The food was fantastic and the service was great. We thought it was reasonably priced and the portions were generous. The staff were friendly and made us all feel very welcome. Would recommend seeking out this hidden Norfolk gem.

The Pelican staff know how to look after a pint of beer. All the ales (and lager - they have Peroni on draft) taste great as the lines are kept scrupulously clean. If you like a decent pint and some nice honest, well cooked, food then make a visit to this nice little pub. It is an unpretentious and hard-working country pub with a large garden and classic pub ambience. With a massive Inglenook fireplace and free wifi you could be all set for a session on the laptop or smartphone as well if you are a roadwarrior passing by.
