We stayed at Trildoon House 19/3/12 for 2 nights, lovely rooms very comfy beds. The hostess Lorraine just wonderful and very helpful with advice as to sightseeing etc. I left a cardigan in a b&b and found out it was at Trildoon, Lorraine kindly organised for it to be on sent for collection further down the track, many thanks Lorraine. Fed the horses before we left on our merry way. We will definitely return if ever we get back to Ireland. Noelene & Mark, Australia

Lorraine offers a warm friendly welcome and has a great sense of humor. The rooms are lovely and have great panoramic views of the water. The bed and pillows were one of the most comfortable of our 6 week driving tour of Ireland. The entire house was beautiful and spotless. The home made bread and scones are yummy. The location is quite and a very short drive to Doolin pubs, restaurants and shops and maybe 10 minutes to the cliffs. Lorraine is very caring and went out of her way when she found out that I had a fever and had returned back to bed after breakfast. When I awoke a couple of hours later she persuaded me to sit in a big comfy chair in the livingroom with a throw. She started a roaring fire in the fire place, brought me tea cookies and magazines. She made very sure I needed nothing. Nobody wants to be sick on vacation but, at least I felt at home and she made it very clear that I was not a burden. We will be back.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful but, ask for one with a water view (fantastic sunsets)

We recently completed a 3 week vacation during which we drove around the entire island of Ireland. Over 20 nights we stayed in 18 different Bed & Breakfasts, paying between €50 to €80, and £60 to £65 in Northern Island. This review is based upon the relative merits of Trildoon House with respect to other B&Bs that we visited.
We picked Trildoon House because it sounded like a nice place (good reviews) for a very reasonable price. We paid €65 for the one night of our stay, including breakfast. Payment was requested in cash; apparently the phone companies in Ireland charge an exorbitant fee to maintain a phone-line for processing credit card transactions. The interior of the house was a bit torn up during our stay, they were in the midst of a remodel while we there (end of May, 2012).
Trildoon House is a good distance outside of Doolin, you definitely can not walk into town for dinner or shopping. However, it is not hard to find – it is right off of R478 with a sign out front, so you won’t miss it. The best thing about Trildoon House is its location with respect to the Cliffs of Moher. The Cliffs are just a few miles south down the road, and because Trildoon House is so close, it is easy to visit the Cliffs in the evening. Because there is so much daylight in the summer months, especially around the solstice, we were at the Cliffs until after 8:30 PM and still had plenty of daylight.
Visiting the Cliffs of Moher in the evening is a great idea because they face west, so the sun falls on them best in the evening. Also, the rangers all go home at 6:00 PM, which means the visitor center is closed, but it also means that they leave the gates to the parking lot open after 6:00 PM. We had free parking. But the best part about an evening visit to the Cliffs of Moher is that when the rangers leave, no one guards the old classic route along the cliff tops to Hags Head. It is my understanding that during the day an official stands at the entrance to the old trail and says “Nope! No one beyond this point. Too dangerous!” We walked about halfway to Hags Head in the evening on the old trail – I felt perfectly safe – but we had a dry day and no wind. I do not recommend taking this trail when weather conditions are poor! Don't take small children either.
Because Trildoon is outside of Doolin, it is has space for a large parking lot in front of the building. I was always cautious about squeezing our rental car into some of the tight parking spots we encountered in Ireland, but Trildoon has no parking issues.
Trildoon is also very quiet. There were some other guests who apparently arrived at 11:30 PM, but I did not hear them.
The proprieters were great. Friendly and helpful. We wanted an early start the next day to visit the Burren, and they allowed us to have a 7:30 AM breakfast. Very few B&Bs in Ireland will serve breakfast before 8 AM, so it was a nice change to have someone help us early birds. I had an omelet for breakfast, plus cereal, yogurt, toast, etc.
I would stay at Trildoon again. It is a nice place.

The hostess, Lorraine, is welcoming in a very professional manner, the house is fully organized to give to the guests a feeling of being at home. The view is very nice, coast is visible. Area is touristic, but the B&B is in a calm location. We had there an excellent stay, and a very pleasant contact with Lorraine. Congratulations. Olivier, Luxembourg

We traveled with our 18-month old son and my parents, and had a great experience at this B&B. They provided a cot for our son and we were in a semi-private corridor - completely separated from the room my parents were in.

Both rooms had an en suite, and there was also a public bathroom in the hallway. The only bathtub was in the public bathroom.

They were undergoing some renovations to the property, but nothing that affected the quality of our stay.

We have friends coming to visit later this month, and will be looking to return to this place again!
