We were staying here, and wanted to eat here one night before we left. They are closed Wednesday, so tonight was the night. The room is very inviting....not large, with comfortable chairs and a large window wall overlooking a running river behind the restaurant. The dining room was full when we arrived, and stayed full until after 9 pm. Our table had not cleared when we came out of our room, so we had a drink in the sitting room in front of a small coal fire. Once seated we ordered a bottle of wine and dinner. My wife had a crabmeat appetizer and panseared scallops. I ordered a warm appetizer of fish and shellfish in a saffron broth and roasted monkfish. Both appetizers were good, but I think the crabmeat was slightly better. Dinner came with a gratin of potato and a dish was excellent cooked carrots. Both entrees were very good...perhaps the monkfish was a touch better. We finished by sharing a lemon souffle with fruit, coffee and tea...plus a couple of complimentary cookies. Very nice meal in excellent surroundings.
