“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 4 October 2009

We were real tired having flown into Shannon Ireland and driven to Doolin. A man told us of the Half Door B&B so we went and were able to rent the PERFECT room. There were horses to view from our window and beautiful green hills. We were invited to have tea in the comfortable sitting room. This gave us our second wind so we walked to some of the nearby shops and had some 'pub grub' before returning to the comfortable beds! The next morning we were given more good advice from the Proprietor, Anne Hughes. I highly recomend this B&B.

I stayed at Half Door for two nights shortly after it was renovated. Ann was a great hostess and we didn't lack a single thing. welcome tea/coffee and a spacious, light living room made us feel at home. the place was very clean and comfy, quite modern with no clutter which is so common in ireland.. it is very conveniently situated just steps away from the two local pubs with live music all year round. note though - if you plan to go on a ferry to Aran Islands - it is a half an hour walk to the fisherman village (the ferry port).

My husband and I stayed here two nights on our trip to Ireland last year. Anne was quite friendly and helpful with answering questions we had about different things. Breakfast was delicious and very filling - the pancakes were huge! The bed was extremely comfortable as well. This place is as adorable in person as it is shown on the website. Extremely conveniant to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, and the Aran Islands. And make sure you go to McDermott's for the stew while you're there!

Half Door was a great affordable B&B. Ann, the owner, has a delicious breakfast menu with warm fresh brown bread and homemade jellies. My friends and I enjoyed our stay at Half Door because of the proximity to the town, the clean accommodations, and the filling breakfast!

This wonderful B & B had it all; the warm feeling of being welcome stands out in my mind. Ann was a graceous hostess and a wonderful gormet cook as well, breakfast was second to none, delicious! and so many choices. She is very familiar with the community and helped us with our question as to where to go and what to do, as well as where to eat and where to find find some real Irish music, which we all loved (thanks Ann). Aside from being exceptionally clean, bright and cheery, there was a warm and comfortable feeling all around. The sunroom only added to the homey feeling. We would highly recommend this B & B to anyone, we know they'll love it as much as we did. We sincerely hope we can get back to Doolin and be able to spend a little more time with you in your wonderful B & B....Many thanks from - B & N Moncton NB Canada

I travelled 2 weeks in Scotland and Ireland with my daughter, her husband and grandson, age 20, and granddaughter, age 17 and found the Half Door B & B to be the nicest of our accomodations. The rooms and baths were new and modern. They were very clean. The owner, Anne Hughes, was very friendly and efficient, and can she cook. The breakfasts were out of this world with an outstanding selection to choose from. The Half Door is located in a quiet neigborhood but is within a stone's throw of McDermott's and Mc Cann's Pubs. Great place to stay when touring the Burren or the Aran Islands or just Pub Hopping and enjoying the music.

Anne Hughes’ comfortable B&B was bright and cheery. We booked our party of nine in advance, so she arranged for extra bedding for our teens and was ready for us. All rooms were well-appointed with comfortable beds and bathrooms. Anne’s breakfasts were the best we had on our trip of nine days, as she formerly ran the property as a restaurant. Try the Dubliner cheese and bacon omelet - yummy and filling. She gave us good dinner advice and was a gracious host. The Half Door is about 100 yards from McDermott’s Pub and another 75 from McGann’s – two renowned trad music pubs. We paid €300 for 1 night.
