“Comfortable stay in Doolin”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

Frank was a great host, and he had great recommendations for local food and activities in the area. The room was comfortable and the larger sitting room provided a restful place to relax.

It was really nice being able to talk to Frank our host about local attractions - his local knowledge is a big bonus!

We spend 2 nights and 2 days at the Doonmacfelim and Frank was so helpful and accommodating. It was the perfect spot to be at the centre of Doolin (so close to the bus and the path to the cliffs of moher)! It was our first B&B in Ireland and we loved it.

We enjoyed our stay in Doolin. Frank was a very friendly and helpful host. His suggestion to go to O'Connors pub (a 5min walk) for a meal an music in the evening was a beauty - we had a great meal and a great night! The room was clean and comfortable, and he served an excellent breakfast. Would recommend. We wished we had more time here. Also is only a short drive from the Cliffs of Moher.

After spending 10 days in the Irish sunshine, we found the soft rain of Ireland in Doolin. However the accommodations were inviting including the sitting room that we didn't have time to sit in. We went on the recommendation of Frank to O'Conner's Pub 5 minutes walk for food and music. Both were great! We enjoyed our breakfast which we were able to choose the night before. Then we continued to our next destination.

One of the best rooms during our trek across the island - very roomy bedroom & bath. Great location within walking distance to shops and restaurants in this friendly little village. Only downer - burned, frozen waffles. Our friend ordered traditional Irish breakfast and it was very tasty.

Our flight arrived in Shannon at 600am and prior to that day, had several email exchanges with Frank. 3 to 6 pm is normal check in time, but I asked for an early check in time of 10 to 11am. Frank said I would need to rent the room for the night before if I wanted to guarantee a bed. I refused to book a room and Frank and I agreed that we could check in at 100 pm. I rang The doorbell regularly from 1 to 3 pm, plus checked behind the house (his car was there) and called him on the phone. My husband was sleeping in the car, so at 3 pm I had him ring the bell. And Frank answered the door and checked us in. I think it says something when he would just ignore us and let us sleep in the parking lot for two hours. Either that or he forgot we were checking in at 100 pm. I felt totally ignored and was starting to wonder if we should find somewhere else to stay. A bad feeling when you are jet lagged and exhausted.
