Stayed in a family room in the hostel. It was class, so quiet. Facilities were great and the staff running the establishment were so friendly but yet so efficient. Nothing seemed to be a bother. Will definitely be back to this hostel in the future, several times I hope.

Stayed here for one night in June.

Lovely cosy hostel with a friendly family feel. You can tell everyone who works there really cares. The free breakfast was lovely and the room was clean and comfortable.

The only drawback was the shower in our 6 person dorm. As you were unable to control the temperature it started out freezing and after a couple of pushes was scolding hot! The poor 6th person to take a shower was in there the shortest time that's for sure! Also by the time all 6 people in our dorm had showered the small cramped bathroom was very wet and smelly!

That really was the only drawback other than that a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Dear Lizzie

Thank you for your review and great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for the feedback on the shower, I investigated it and found a faulty valve, as for its design it is small but all going well this winter the last of our old style bathrooms in some of our standard rooms will be renovated and enlarged.

I will pass your compliments on to the team, they indeed are a very friendly bunch.

Warmest regards

Another awesome visit to Doolin Hostel. Second visit in three years and already planning the next one. Anthony and Deirdre take great pride in the place that their family has created and it shows. A few changes have taken place since our last visit. Free Continental Breakfast is included, the WIFI reached the upstairs room we were in, new wood floors in most rooms and the menu in the café was expanded to include Beer and Wine. It was great to come down from walking the cliffs and have a couple of Craft Beers.
The Hostel is more like a B&B, in 35 years of staying in hostels; I can truly say this is the nicest, friendliness, most comfortable one I have ever had the pleasure to visit. It is situated in the perfect spot in the perfect town. All the employees are engaging and you’ll never want to leave.
We look forward to our next visit.
Thanks,

I was here for the folk festival, really nice clean hostel. The vibe is friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good - sets you up. I liked the mixed age group in the hostel and the fact that you got a good nights sleep. The other occupants in the room were respectful of other people in terms of noise etc. A few small points would be in the twin superior room to have a shelf/ledge for toiletries and also something in the shower for gel etc. Anthony's strict no alcohol in the rooms is a very good idea. I will be back !!

Ending our Two-week Ireland trip at the Doolin Hostel was very satisfying.
Our private room, filled with functional ikea furniture, was comfortable and had a wonderful view.
There were ample power outlets (always a plus) and the beds were really comfortable.
The staff were very helpful, giving us a variety of options for activities in the area and prepared yummy packed lunches for us on two occasions.
The only caveat: the morning we left, I was ready to give this place five stars - however, we were convinced to buy our Bus Eireann tickets from the hostel instead of the bus driver, and told it would be the same price.
When we boarded the bus, the driver told us we could have saved €3 by buying from him.
A minor detail but it's the principle right?
Otherwise I highly highly recommend this lovely place!

Dear Myles

Delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and it was a pleasure to have you stay. I am however very disappointed to hear about your experience with the price differences between us and the bus driver. I had this disparity a couple of weeks ago as well and was assured by the Marketing Manager for Bus Eireann that we where the same.

As of today we are not selling bus tickets until these disparities get rectified and we can be assured that it will not happen in the future, as I agree with you on the principle and hustling for a couple of euros it is simply something we are not about. We have sold tickets for many years without discrepancies and I am sure this will be rectified speedily.

I will keep you posted on our progress and thank you for letting us know.

Warmest regards
Anthony and Deirdre

Beginning of june 2014 I have spent four days at teh Doolin Hostel in ( you guessed it) Doolin, Ireland. We've had a terrific time. It started out with some mix up in rooms but the, more than friendly, people at the hostel puzzled and worked relentlessly to fix the problem, while we were enjoying complementary tea, coffee and homemade cookies. Problems can arise but the way they are handled says a great deal about the proprietors, and they were terrific. The room we ended up in was spacious, clean and had a bathroom with an excellent shower. The , free, breakfast was good, with cereals, superfoods, yoghurt, fruit, toast, bread, jam, marmelade, butter and tea and coffee. The self service kitchen is big, clean and has plenty of pots, pans, and utilities. The living room is cosy with some small tables and very comfy, big, chairs. There is a small shop at the reception/coffeeshop Deirdre, Anthony and David are friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. All in all an excellent stay and next time I'm in Ireland I am surely going back to Doolin Hostel. Oh, did I mention the washing/drying facilities? (the sleepy lad that set up breakfast in the morning was very friendly too by the way)

Dear Duke

Thank you for your great review, plus you patience and understanding while we rectified the mix up with the room type you booked. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us again this year and I have passed on your praise to all the guys, including our young morning guy who got his first mention in a review.

My wife and I are Yanks; we bicycle toured Ireland for 1 month in May. We arrived in "the new" Doolin and stayed at a B&B that also has a restaurant; we were unaware of "the old/original" Doolin 1/4 mile away toward the sea. The noise from the restaurant kitchen clean-up kept me awake till midnight. We then discovered the "old Doolin" and the Doolin Hostel, and stayed there. A huge improvement and at a much lower cost. Room spotlessly clean and quiet. Staff most helpful and friendly. Just like a B&B, but without the "full Irish" breakfast, which we needed a break from anyway. You cannot find a better place to stay in Doolin. Great value. Highly recommended.

Dear Seattle 1147

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and had such a great time in the area. We indeed are lucky to be at the start of the Cliffs of Moher walking trail and walking distance to all parts of Doolin, located at the start of Fisherstreet, overlooking the village and out to sea and a 2 minute walk to the famous Gus O'Connors Pub
Thank you for all the compliments and delighted you found us such good value.
