“Great B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2013

It is a great place to stay. Spacious, very clean and modern room and bathroom and great breakfast in the morning. Great location - near the main road and pubs - but don't miss the turn! Staff was welcoming and very helpful giving directions and advice about attractions in the area. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here midweek at the end of July/August. We rang once we got to Doolin and Pearse gave us directions to find Blackberry Lodge and was there waiting at the door when we arrived a few minutes later. From the outside it looks like a traditional cottage but looks are deceiving as inside it's far more spacious than you'd expect and very modern. It really looks like every detail has been thought through and everything chosen with the visitor in mind. It's situated down a narrow lane (a boreen I'd call it!) and is so quiet and peaceful but yet only a few minutes walk to the village itself. Pearse was very helpful, suggesting pubs, where to eat, etc. We had the downstairs room which was spacious, clean, fresh, modern and stylish. The breakfast was good too, really I can't fault this place. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

I stayed there with my wife and two sons (6 years and 17 months) for three nights during a busy Irish holiday weekend. I've had several experiences with Irish B&B's and I can honestly say this was, by far, the best experience I've had alone or with family!

When arriving, the B&B is on a quiet road near fields and, by appearance, may seem 'simple'. DO NOT let that worry you! Once you walk inside you quickly realize you're 'home' and much care and effort goes into this B&B. And once you meet the proprietors you quickly realize you are under the care of genuine people who want to make sure your stay as enjoyable as possible!

Pros:
- Amazing location. Slightly away from pubs and bistros but within 5 minutes walk. Far enough so you're not exposed to loud partiers but close enough to walk home after being out. Also within 5-7 minutes drive of Doolin Pier which takes you to the Aran Islands. You're also within minutes if the Cliffs of Moher and ample family-friendly activities.
- Facilities: AWESOME! Dining room is simple but modern. (Posh) Coffee and tea available there 24 hours. Room was fantastic!!! Bed was amazingly comfortable with modern bathroom and HDTV with enough channels to keep kids happy. Blackout blinds on every window was great!
- Beautiful deck and facilities for kids. There's a 'fort' with a slide and a swing set that kept the kids occupied. The deck is adjacent so you can watch the kids as you have your tea. There's also ample grass area so bring a hurl or football
- Staff: Down-to-earth awesome!! They did anything within their power to make sure we were happy. We have a rambunctious 17 month old and they made sure he was as happy as we were. Their local knowledge was shared without hesitation and will gladly find out anything they may not know.
-Free WIFI! Sounds odd but in Ireland that can be hard to get sometimes.

CONS:
- Honestly, hand on my heart, NONE! We had an amazing time and are ALREADY planning to go back! The only 'con' that my wife and I could kinda come up with could be the weather. We were there during some fabulous Irish weather. The west coast can have some rough conditions... Would that put us off going back? NO WAY! Even if it was pouring from the heavens you'd be happy to stay at the B&B or find one of the many local indoor activities.

Honestly, we are 'chuffed' with our experience and are already planning to go back. My wife and I are both full-time professionals that can fully recommend this B&B for the family looking to get-away and experience Ireland!

We had not stayed in Doolin before and as it was a very busy time we made a quick choice online and chose here. We were lucky! - I found this place to be very clean and modern place to stay. Really no expense was spared in decorating and facilities. About a 5 minute walk to the main part of the village it is very well located. The room had satellite tv a power shower and very comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent and a fresh coffee grinding machine is in the breakfast room. Before we arrived we were called by gsm to see if we were ok and had found the place which was very good service and Pearce the owner made every effort to make our short stay there excellent. I could not say enough about this place, I opened the skylight and looked out during the night and it was silent......truly amazing, not a peep. Book it!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the house have more windows and views

We stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are very clean and modern ad the beds are extremely comfortable!!
It's about a 5min walk from pubs and restaurants, whick offer lovely, reasonably priced food and live music at night, the pier is approx 2km away.
Would definitely reccomend Blackberry Lodge to friends and family and will certainly be going back myself!!

We stayed here for one night and just loved it. Great people who were very helpful. The family room was fabulous, the mattresses were high quality, very comfortable, the linens felt so wonderful after a long day in the car and hiking around the cliffs. Our kids had a bed to themselves which they loved. The bathroom was top notch. They offered a continental breakfast of breads, yogurt, cereals, fruit, coffee and tea, this was perfect for us since our kids really do just enjoy toast but the owner does offer a full Irish breakfast that sounded wonderful, we really wanted to get on the road but would recommend considering it for others. We also found the prices to be the best in the area. Very close to Doolin, wonderful location....highly recommend

Room Tip: Really perfect for families

this is a brand new b&b and its has been finished to a top standard. every room has a large en suit and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable beds.
the views of the surrounding areas are top quality.
if your a young couple, old couple or family this place is for you. there is a large garden for the kids to play and a large decking area for you to relax and enjoy the views.
The staff are brilliant they are all local who can help you around doolin or the local area, they cannot do enough for you.

Room Tip: make sure you get breakfast well worth it.
